Time skip- 1 week later- life is back to normal and Abby is healed

Abby's POV
It's been a week since the "incident". But I'm all better now. Everything has been pretty normal well except for Nick. I've been wanting to hang out with the group (Eve, Ruby, Lily) but he's been so worried something else would happen. But Ruby's birthday is in a couple days and I'm determined to go to her party. I finish straightening my hair and put on my uniform. Today Nick is taking me to school and I need to convince him to let me go to ruby's party since today is Wednesday and her party is Saturday.
" Abby are you almost ready" I hear nick yell from downstairs. " I'm coming"  I go by my room and grab my bag and phone and head downstairs. I see nick sitting at the table drinking coffee scrolling on his phone.
" You ready to go?"
" Yea let's go"
Nick sets down his coffee and grabs his keys. I go ahead and walk towards the car. Nick follows behind me and locks the front door and unlocks the car. I get it and set my bag down by my feet. Nick gets in and starts the car and we start driving towards school.
" Nick do you remember Ruby?"
" Yea why?"
" Well it's her birthday this weekend and she's throwing a party and u wanted to go."
He sits there without saying anything staring at the road.
" Who will be there?" He says without moving his eyes from the road.
" Lily, Eve, and some other girls from Higgs."
He goes silent again just staring at the road
" I suppose but I'll have to meet her mom."
" Yay thank you!"
I text Ruby that I can go and then I text the group chat that I'm almost at school. Every morning we wait by the gate for everyone then we walk around school. Normaly I'm last so I always text them when I'll be there.

We pull up to the school gates and I see everyone. I say goodbye to nick and head towards the group.
Abby:Hey guys
Eve: Finally your here
Ruby: Did you ask Nick about my party
Abby: He said I could go if he meets your mom
Ruby: Yay!!!
Ruby: if you want you can come a bit early so he can meet them
Abby: Alright

We hear the bell ring and all head to class.

Nicks POV

After I drop Abby off at school and I head towards the hospital to check up on mum. Now that I'm Abby's full time caretaker it's a bit harder to see mum all the time but I try and see her the most I can. I also want her input on Abby and how I can best take care of her. I want to let her have fun and be a kid but after last week it made me realize if anything happened to her I could never deal with myself. She is still so young and still so full of life and I don't want that taken from her.

I park the car and head into the hospital. At this point this place seems like a second home. I'm here almost everyday, I know most of the staff, and my mother lives here, it just feels like home. I wish it didn't though. Hospitals are one of those places filled with so much joy yet so much sadness. It begins life but also where life can end. It has that hospital smell, fluorescent lights that feel older than you, hallways that seem miles long. While all at the same time there are tears of joy, laughter, smiles. All of these emotions put into one building.

I walk to the end of those mile long hallways to mums room where I see her doing a crossword puzzle while she's getting her chemotherapy.

Mum: Hello Nicky I didn't know you were coming

Nick: I just thought I would stop by, what are you up to?

Mum: We'll I was just doing a crossword if you wanted to help

Nick: I would love to but I have some questions for you

I say taking a deep breath knowing the conversation
we are about to have

Mum: Yes Nicky?
