Hi, I am a Brazilian writer, a fan of k-pop, especially TWICE and Loona. This is the first fanfic I wrote about TWICE, and it’s a Michaeng fic that I wrote a few years ago. It’s a historical story set during World War II.

This fic was very well received in Brazil, and I had to study, research, and even watch movies to be able to write it.

I hope you enjoy it and leave your feedback, which is very important to me.

Korea, 1930

The satisfied smile on Son Taejo’s face was due to his calloused hands carrying several bags full of food for his family.

The man with thick, black hair was young, not yet thirty, but already bore lines on his face and slightly sunburned skin from his strenuous work in tea production.

Life as a tea farmer was far from easy; the work was demanding and the pay meager. Yet, he was grateful to be able to provide for his family.

Taejo felt blessed despite the hardships. He didn’t mind working from before sunrise to sunset because every time he returned home, he was greeted with a tight hug and the sincerest smile he knew: from his eight-year-old daughter Chaeyoung, whose affection made every effort worthwhile.

That afternoon was no different. As soon as he arrived home, he saw his little girl with long, brown hair running towards him, ready to give him a warm hug.

“Daddy!” Taejo hadn’t even closed the door when the girl hugged his waist with great enthusiasm.

“Let your father come inside, my dear,” Sunae, Taejo’s wife, said as she spotted her husband entering the house. “I’ll help you take those bags to the kitchen.”

Sunae was a beautiful young woman with shoulder-length dark brown hair. Her smile was striking, and it was with that smile that she won Taejo’s heart, along with a small mole near her mouth. Interestingly, their daughter also had a mole in the same spot, which caught their attention from the moment she was born—a charm passed from mother to daughter.

“Wait, there’s a  here for Chaeyoung,” the girl’s eyes practically sparkled upon hearing her father’s words. Presents were not common in the Son family home, not even on important occasions like birthdays.

“A present?! What is it, Daddy?” Chaeyoung asked excitedly, bouncing up and down. Sunae picked up one of the bags while Taejo pulled out a stack of paper, a brush, and a pot of ink from the other.

“I want you to draw a beautiful picture of all of us together, okay?” Taejo said with a smile, as Chaeyoung could hardly believe what was before her eyes. “A lovely drawing to hang on the wall like a painting.”

“I’m going to draw everyone, Daddy!” Chaeyoung exclaimed with unmatched excitement, still jumping around. “I’ll draw you, me, Mommy, and even Grandma!”

“Then go ahead and show Grandma the present Daddy gave you, sweetheart,” Sunae instructed the eager girl, who promptly obeyed and ran to the room where her ailing grandmother stayed.

“Just try not to make too much noise, Chaeyoung.”

“Okay, Mommy,” the girl replied as she began to walk slowly, trying not to make any noise.

Once inside the room, Chaeyoung approached the bed where her grandmother, Taejo’s mother, a frail elderly lady with a pale face and sunken eyes, was lying.

“Grandma,” Chaeyoung spoke softly, leaning towards Boram. The woman opened her eyes and smiled upon seeing her granddaughter. “Grandma, look what daddy gave me.” The girl proudly displayed the gift Taejo had given her.
