"𝙔𝙤𝙪! 𝙂𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙙𝙖𝙢𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜!" Shadowheart was hyperventilating inside her pod.

"𝙒𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙣𝙤 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙜𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙨." Lae'zel said pointedly

Shadowheart's hands thumped around every surface inside the pod, smacking and punching and using her strength to try and push herself out.

You placed the rune in it's proper slotting, it slipped from your fingers and clanked to the floor. You grasp was shaky. You kneeled down and picked it up, attempting to fit it into place again. It was magnetic to the console too, you were just fumbling.

"𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜! 𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙞𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧!" Lae'zel was over your shoulder and prodding at you with her long nails.

"ሠቿ ጠሁነፕ ኗዐ. ፕዐ ፕዘቿ ዘቿረጠ ሠቿ ጠሁነፕ ኗዐ!"

("We must go. To the Helm we must go!") Us chipped in quietly.

"𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙣- 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚'𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙖 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙩." She shook the sides of her prison.

"-𝙄'𝙫𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙞𝙩! 𝙄'𝙫𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙩 𝙞𝙩! 𝙎𝙝𝙚𝙚𝙨𝙝 𝙡𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙄 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄'𝙢 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜." you clicked the rune into place, it fit perfectly into the socket. You blew out a large breath and stood up, wiping your knees.

𝑨 𝒉𝒖𝒎 𝒐𝒇 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓, something cold and discomforting too. You and the board beneath you, were at your fingertips, like commanding your own body you only had to have the gumption to do it. A deep breath in, and out. You opened the console, imagining the pod hissing open.

and it did so, over your authoritative command.

Lae'zel had finally stepped back from hovering over you and Us, chasing you around like a cat to string.

The jaws of the pod opened, steam releasing at the seams. Using the strength of her arms, she lifted herself.

Shadowheart and Lae'zel made eye contact with each other.

And she fell to the ground with a harsh smack. Falling on that chainmail did not look comfortable. You couldn't catch her, she would've squashed you with that heavy armor.

"𝘼𝙩 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩...𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧." she was on her hands and knees catching her breath.

"𝙐𝙝 𝙝𝙪𝙝. 𝙊𝙠𝙖𝙮, 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙗 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙩. 𝙒𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙤, 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙬." You held out your hand for her. She took it and shuffled to her feet. Her hands were small and sweaty, very gently grasping yours.

"𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙖𝙢𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙣. 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙮𝙤𝙪-"

A psionic connection resonated in both of your minds. Like a cold lick to your skin you felt it connect you two.

You could feel her wariness and mixed feelings. She was feeling particularly wary about Lae'zel's presence. Probably the artifact's doing.
