YAMIRA

The dining hall was huge, as expected.

It was filled with maids and servants, and in the middle was this long golden carpet that could seat at least thirty people.

This is not the private dining hall where just the immediate royal family members sit but the more formal one.

The carpet has magic; it keeps the food warm and the cushions around it, too.

The head seat, where the king would sit, was empty.

I guess he's late.

On the right side, the queen and the young prince are seated, followed by his maternal grandmother, grandfather, two aunts and uncles and their children.

The queen is the second wife of the Sihn's king and Shiv's stepmother.

Shiv's biological mother died when he was just an infant because of some disease.

On the left side, there were two seats vacant, for us, I presume.

Then there was the emperor's sister, her husband, their two daughters, and their husbands.

Everyone. Staring. Right. At. Us.

How do I know and remember everyone's faces, you ask?

I was shown their faces and told about their relationships every single day for the past few months.

The maids were arranging the food onto the carpet and even they halted.

We bowed in unison. His hand never leaving mine.

Everyone got up and stood in their seats.

"Greetings everyone. I hope you all are in good health." Shiv said.

The queen and the emperor's sister came up to us.

We touched their feet together and they gave us their blessings.

"God bless you, Shiv. May God bless you with a child soon, Avantika."

Well, your husband's son is not too excited about that topic.

Huh. If only they knew.

Not that I was ever planning on bearing a child with him anyway.

The emperor's sister, Radhika kissed me on the forehead and held me by my shoulders while looking at him.

"Shiv, at least now show us your bride's beautiful face."

"When did I stop you? Just don't pester her too much, she might be tired from cooking food all day."

He said with so much care in his voice which I thought he was not capable of.

"Ahh....just in two days you have started to be so protective of her. Avantika, see. You are so lucky to have such a loving husband." She teased.

Lucky me.

Yep, no one can be luckier than me.

YAMIRA! Stop.

You are not here to complain about your marriage; you have a mission.

Right!

She carefully lifted my veil and I lowered my eyes with it.

To be simple, shy sweet and innocent.

That's what I have to be.

"Hayeeee, nazar na lag jae kahi!"
She exclaimed loudly.
