Ali
"Oh, I know little duck." I crooned as she opened her mouth against my breast. "Hungry huh? It's tiring being born."
Taking my breast, I nudged it closer and she latched on, suckling against my nipple. I let out a gasp of awe at the strange feeling, exchanging a look with Travis. He smiled at me, reaching over to stroke my cheek. I smiled back, letting out a sigh of contentment as Aria fed for the first time. My body was completely shattered, and it had finally hit me.
"Tired doll?" My husband murmured, and I nodded. "Well do you want to have a shower once she's done and you can get some sleep?"
"A shower sounds so fucking good right now." I mumbled.
"Hey, don't swear in front of the baby." Travis teased, and I giggled at him, opening my eyes just to roll them.
Once Aria was done, Travis burped her and then rocked her to sleep, putting her in her tiny hospital cot. He then turned all of his attention to me, his touch so gentle and attentive as he helped me out of bed. I winced as it ached between my legs, but it felt good to be on my feet again. I'd already passed the placenta, so I didn't expect the sudden rush of blood down my thighs as I rose. Gasping, I looked down as red streaks slipped down my legs.
"Jesus, fuck." I dashed into the tiny bathroom, aching as I stepped into the shower just before the blood trickled over my ankles. "Okay, well it looks like I murdered someone."
"Sit down." Travis urged, grabbing the edge of the shower seat and lowering it down. I collapsed onto it, leaning back against the wall as Travis turned the water on. "You'll feel better afterwards and then you can get some sleep." He reminded me, and I nodded.
It amazed me, but Travis helped me to shower with no flicker of disgust at how birth had changed my body. I knew I was swollen, sore, big, but he didn't seem to see any of it and I just stared at him as he rubbed the water over my skin. Travis had proven a million times that he would love me no matter what, but it still blew me away.
Travis helped me to get dressed and then walked me back to bed, almost taking my whole weight as he lifted me up. I sighed in relief as he tucked the blankets over my body, pressing a kiss to my cheek. Then there was a light knock on the door, and a blonde nurse came in, smiling apologetically.
"Hey guys, how are we doing?" She asked.
"Good." I nodded.
"I'm just here to take Aria for her hearing screening, I thought we could do it sooner so that you guys can spend all night together."
"Yeah of course." I smiled. "Thanks."
"I'll bring her back soon." The nurse smiled, and Travis and I both nodded as she leaned over to take our daughter out of the cot. We watched them go, and Travis sat down next to me as I reached out for his hand.
"She's perfect." I sighed, looking over at him. "I can't believe she's here."
"I hope she's exactly like you." Travis told me, and I blushed.
"I hope she's exactly like you." I countered.
He smiled, resting his head against my shoulder. I let my eyes slip closed, resting them. I couldn't find it in me to sleep just yet; I wanted to wait until Aria was back before I could slip off. Travis held my hand as we waited, and twenty minutes later, there was another knock on the door. I opened my eyes as Rory came in, smiling.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt." She apologized. "I'm here to do Aria's hearing test."
"Oh, another nurse already took her." Travis explained, and Rory frowned. "The blonde one, umm, about this tall." He gestured in the air. Rory looked between me and my husband.
