Maybe...

It would been best if you haven't remember your past life with Dan Feng.

If you won't have..You would have seen him as Dan Heng still..

Instead..of Dan Feng...

He can't say no to you.

Right now, You remembered everything from friendships formed to everything gone.

The man you had loved years ago is the same man..who looks like him.

But he's not him. Your mind was divided into two.

So confusing.

You did love Dan Feng in the previous life.

You do love Dan Heng now.

Same with him.

Right now, you were staring at him.

"Quit staring at me like that," he demanded.

You cocked your head, pretending to be oblivious. "Like what?"

"Exactly like that," he grumbled, turning his gaze away to escape the longing and almost sorrowful gleam in your eyes whenever they settled on him.

"Apologies," you sighed, but you made no attempt to divert your attention from him. Instead, you absorbed every detail, distinguishing between what remained the same and what cruelly shattered the illusion of days long gone. "It's just challenging sometimes not to envision someone else when I look at you."

He furrowed his brow at your words. "I'm not him."

You offered a smile, one that seemed fragile around the edges. "I know."

"He's no longer here," he ground out.

"I know."

"I won't—"

"Dan Heng."

At the sound of his name, he paused, turning to meet your eyes once more. Your smile, though tinged with fragility, conveyed a sense of hope and remorse. "Just this once, for a few seconds, could you let me pretend?"

Dan Heng felt a tightness in his throat, his heart falling without a safety net, because you weren't truly seeing him. You'd never truly seen him for who he was; instead, you saw the man who continued to haunt his every waking moment. Even now, the weight of Dan Feng's past mistakes and regrets bore down on him as he watched you plead for a chance to relive a bygone time.

He knew he shouldn't, for the sake of his heart, and yet he couldn't help himself. Denying this—denying you—had always been his weakness, a weakness that had allowed you to stir emotions within him.

So Dan Heng nodded, unable to maintain eye contact. But he didn't need to see you to feel the relief that washed over you as you slumped against him, your arms enveloping his shoulders in a semblance of a lover's embrace.

This was madness, a reckless pursuit. He should have declined, adamantly disavowed any connection to that man, and rejected your advances when you delved into old memories and grief.

But he didn't. He couldn't, for he was feeble, he had grown soft, and most significantly...

He loved you.

He loved you, so he allowed you to hold him the way you must have held that man.

He loved you, so he permitted you to imagine him as someone else.

He loved you, so he let you bury your face in his shoulder and utter a name that wasn't his.

"Dan Feng..About him."

Dan Heng closed his eyes and yearned for a day when you would look at him without seeing another man's face, a day when the past would no longer overshadow the present.

"Dan Feng," you whispered again, unable to resist the pull of the past.

Dan Heng's shoulders shook, tears welling up in his eyes. "He's no more," he choked out. "I'm here, right here."

You kissed his forehead tenderly, your lips brushing against his skin as you held him close. "Dan Heng, not Dan Feng. I want to spend eternity with you."

He clung to you, tears streaming down his cheeks. "I just... I don't want you to see him in me."

You kissed his forehead again, whispering softly, "I see you, Dan Heng. I see the person you are today, the one I've come to love."

And then, looking into his eyes, you confessed, "I love you."

Dan Heng's tears of sorrow slowly transformed into tears of happiness as he heard those words. He looked deep into your eyes, his own filled with love and gratitude.

"I love you too," he whispered, holding you even closer, finally embracing the future instead of being haunted by the past.

He slowly settled against you, exhaustion from the emotional turmoil weighing him down. You felt his body relax, his breathing steadying as he nestled his head on your shoulder. The warmth of his breath against your neck sent a shiver down your spine, a mix of comfort and a flutter of butterflies that left you feeling both flustered and at peace.

You looked down at him, watching his eyelids grow heavy, the tension in his face easing as sleep began to claim him. This moment, quiet and intimate, felt like a fragile truce between the past and the present. You stroked his hair gently, marveling at the softness beneath your fingertips, and whispered, "Rest, Dan Heng."

A soft sigh escaped his lips, and you felt a surge of protectiveness and affection. Here he was, vulnerable and trusting, and it struck you just how much he had endured. The weight of his past lives, the struggles, the regrets—all of it seemed to melt away in this quiet moment of shared solace.

As he drifted into sleep, you continued to hold him close, feeling his warmth seep into you. The world outside faded, leaving just the two of you in a cocoon of shared breaths and unspoken promises. You felt your own eyelids grow heavy, the day's emotional rollercoaster catching up with you. But you stayed awake a little longer, savoring this peaceful reprieve.

In the stillness, you made a silent vow to cherish the person before you, to love Dan Heng for who he was, not for the shadows of who he had once been. You knew the road ahead might still hold challenges, but in this moment, you found strength in your bond, a strength that would help you both face whatever came next.

Eventually, you let your eyes close, allowing sleep to take over, comforted by the steady rise and fall of Dan Heng's chest against yours. The future was uncertain, but for now, you had each other, and that was enough.

May the memories of the past stay in the past.
