As Eleanor pulled away, it hit her like a freight train. The brunette boy she'd just kissed—

It was Chris.

The crowd erupted into cheers and whistles, their excitement pressing down on her like a weight. Eleanor's stomach churned as Chris stood there, grinning like an idiot, basking in the attention. She could barely breathe.

"Eleanor?" Angel's voice cut through the noise, laced with panic. Without waiting for a response, Angel grabbed her hand and dragged her toward the nearest bathroom.

They stumbled inside, only to find two strangers tangled together in the corner, locked in a heated makeout session.

"Get out!" Angel snapped, her voice sharp enough to slice through the awkward tension. "We need the bathroom!"

Startled, the couple scrambled to their feet and hurried past them, mumbling apologies. Angel slammed the door shut and turned to find Eleanor perched on the edge of the bathtub, pale as a ghost.

"Are you okay?" Angel asked, her voice softening with concern.

"I don't know," Eleanor mumbled, staring blankly at the tiled floor.

"Is it because we drank too much?" Angel asked gently. Then, with a small smirk, she added, "Or is it because you just kissed Chris in front of the entire town?"

Eleanor groaned, burying her face in her hands. "I don't want to talk about it."

"Fair enough."

Fumbling in her bag, Eleanor pulled out her phone. "I'm texting Matt to take us home," she muttered, her voice flat.

Angel didn't argue. Instead, she sat down beside her, waiting silently, ready to shield her friend from the world outside that door.

Angel finally spoke up. "Can you walk?"

"I don't think so," Eleanor murmured, still staring at the floor.

"Okay. Stay here—I'll go find Nick or Matt to carry you to the car." Angel gave her a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder before stepping out and shutting the door behind her.

Minutes passed. Eleanor remained perched on the edge of the bathtub, waiting. Her head spun, her limbs heavy, until finally, she lost her balance and slid back into the empty tub with a quiet thud.

She groaned, too exhausted to move. The doorknob turned, and she sighed in relief. Angel was back.

But it wasn't Angel.

It was Chris.

He stepped inside, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on her slumped in the bathtub. A small, crooked smile tugged at his lips. "Can I lay with you?"

Eleanor blinked up at him, too drained to argue. "I don't care."

Without hesitation, Chris climbed into the tub, lying down beside her. They stayed there in silence, staring up at the ceiling.

"It was a dare," Eleanor finally mumbled.

"I know," Chris replied quietly, his gaze fixed on the bathroom tiles.

She sighed, sitting up slightly. "I just... I didn't know it was you until after. If I had known, I wouldn't ha—"

"Shut up."

Before she could finish, Chris sat up, his hands cupping her face as he kissed her. She froze for a split second, expecting her body to pull away. But it didn't.

Instead, she leaned in, her lips moving against his like it was the most natural thing in the world. His hands slipped to her waist, pulling her closer. She straddled his lap, the kiss growing deeper, more desperate with every passing second. Her fingers tangled in his hair, and for a moment, everything else faded away.

After what felt like forever, Eleanor broke the kiss, her breathing uneven.

"Why'd you stop?" Chris asked, his voice husky.

"It's been ten minutes, and Angel's still not back," she said, glancing toward the door, a hint of panic creeping into her voice.

"She's fine," Chris said, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

"She said, 'Mark my words, I'm going to get Nick or Matt to carry you to the car.' And Matt told us to meet him in fifteen minutes. It's almost been fifteen." Her tone was anxious now.

"Ella, relax. Angel's fine. I swear," he reassured her, but the worry in her eyes didn't fade.

"I need to find her," Eleanor said, sliding off his lap and standing up.

Chris followed her. "I don't think that's a good idea."

Ignoring him, Eleanor swung the bathroom door open and took a step forward—only to collapse.

Chris caught her just before she hit the ground.

Eleanor stirred, her head pounding like a drum. She blinked her eyes open, finding herself sprawled across the backseat of a car. Her head rested on Angel's lap, her feet pressed against the door.

"What... what happened?" she asked, her voice groggy.

"You passed out drunk and hit your head," Nick explained from the driver's seat, glancing back at her through the rearview mirror.

"Just lay back down and go to sleep," Matt added from the passenger seat, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.

Eleanor groaned and rested her head back on Angel's lap. Within minutes, she drifted off again.

When they finally arrived at the house, Nick got out of the car and gently scooped her into his arms. Eleanor didn't stir. He carried her upstairs to her room, laying her on her side and placing a trash can beside her bed.

The rest of the group quietly made their way to their rooms, leaving Eleanor to sleep off the night's chaos.

Tomorrow's hangover was going to be brutal.
