Eleanor had slept through most of the day, waking only to stumble to the bathroom when she felt sick. Angel stayed by her side the entire time, making sure she had water, crackers, and anything else she needed.
Eventually, Eleanor managed to pull herself out of bed and head downstairs. Her head still pounded, but she couldn't stand lying there anymore.
As she reached the bottom of the stairs, she spotted Chris, Matt, Nick, and Nate lounging on the couch, chatting and laughing. Their eyes all turned toward her. Eleanor's face flushed as she quickly diverted to the kitchen, opening the fridge to grab a bottle of water.
Before she could make her escape, Chris appeared behind her.
"We need to talk," he whispered, his voice low enough to keep the others from hearing.
"About what?" she muttered, brushing past him to grab the water.
"Last night."
Her heart sank as the memories hit her like a tidal wave—his hands on her waist, the taste of his lips, the heat of the moment.
"We really don't need to talk about it," she said, avoiding his gaze and twisting the cap off the water bottle.
Chris leaned in, his voice barely audible. "Meet me in my room in twenty minutes."
Before she could respond, he turned and disappeared back into the living room.
Eleanor rushed back upstairs, shutting the door to her bedroom behind her. She hurried over to Angel, shaking her awake.
"What?" Angel groaned, squinting up at her.
"Chris and I made out last night when you were trying to find Matt or Nick to carry me to the car, and now he wants me to meet him in his room in twenty minutes. What do I do?" Eleanor blurted, the words tumbling out in a panic.
Angel shot up in bed. "WHAT?!"
"Shh!" Eleanor clamped a hand over Angel's mouth. "They'll hear you!"
Angel shoved her hand away. "Why the hell would you make out with Chris?"
"I was drunk! I didn't even remember it until he brought it up just now," Eleanor whispered fiercely.
Angel rubbed her temples, still processing. "Okay... What are you going to do?"
"I don't know! Should I go to his room or not?" Eleanor asked, pacing the room.
"Go," Angel said with a shrug. "Maybe he just wants to talk it out and clear the air. Get it over with, and things can go back to normal."
"Maybe," Eleanor sighed, flopping onto the bed.
Angel smirked. "I have one question, though."
"What?" Eleanor asked, eyeing her suspiciously.
"Was it good?"
"Shut up," Eleanor groaned, throwing a pillow at her.
"It's a valid question!" Angel said, laughing.
For the next twenty minutes, Eleanor recounted the events of the previous night in excruciating detail. When she realized the time, she shot up from the bed.
"Good luck, Ella," Angel said teasingly.
Eleanor flipped her off on her way out the door.
Downstairs, she hesitated outside Chris's door. Just as she reached for the doorknob, Matt walked by and gave her a suspicious look. Eleanor ignored him, slipping into Chris's room and shutting the door.
