Her back goes against the concrete wall with fervor, her ribs being cracked in this movement rough enough to leave scratches in her skin and bruises too tricky to bear by such pain.

Fuck.

Haerin screams in pain. It's so much that she needs to concentrate on not fainting and losing consciousness in front of him, Dr. Octopus, with his titanium steel tentacles and precise claws in grabbing her shin and throwing it in the opposite direction.

It was at the climax of the battle. When Norman Osborn - New York's newest mayor - is kidnapped by his best friend, Otto Octavius, Haerin dons her suit at lightning speed and sets out for Times Square in an attempt to stop Otto and his evil plan for revenge. It took seconds for her, to use her web-shooters to swing through the streets of New York City and arrive at Times Square just in time to save the mayor and the city from destruction.

But it was too much. Otto was too strong. His four mechanical arms were much stronger than Kang Haerin remembers seeing in his designs and the way the strong claws pierced the concrete and levitated the man towards her in a quick, agile, and direct manner sends a chill through her spine.

Kang Haerin, research assistant by day, Spidergirl at all times. She is the only person possible to prevent the kidnapping and whatever was the final plan of Dr. Octopus with the mayor, for having superhuman powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider at the age of fifteen.

She's been in the vigilante business longer than a teenage girl would be expected to handle. Today, at twenty-one, she has enough experience to be loved by the neighborhood, acclaimed by civilians, and possibly irritating enough to the police and her archenemies.

No villain with superhuman powers could handle Spidergirl. The Lizard, a man who transforms into a reptile twice her size, had his body trapped by webs and hung from a pole, with an annoying being and her exuberant red and blue costume taking a selfie with his face upside down, in an attempt to piss him off.

Kang Haerin could list countless villains that she defeated and guaranteed a sure arrest, ridding the streets of New York of their evil plans and the will to dominate the city - or obsessively destroy it.

New York owes a lot to Kang Haerin over all these years.

But what could New York do to her, while she is feeling the strength slowly drain out of her body, her vision starts to become more and more blurred, and her enemy prostrates himself in front of her with a cynical smile and not a scratch on his face?

"Give it up, Spidergirl." Dr. Octopus says, the voice hoarse and ripping in his throat - perhaps from all the thirst for revenge. "You can't stop me, you never will!"

Haerin coughs, her red and blue web-patterned suit (the classic) with exaggerated rips and holes down her torso, revealing her skin bruised and dusty from the streets of New York. Half of her mask was torn, ripped off by one of the claws on the steel mechanical arm in an attempt to split his head in half.

A fair amount of blood escapes from the cough, spreading the stain on the floor of her clear defeat. The adrenaline in her body is not able to withstand such pain and little by little, her body accepts that defeat is evident. Haerin feels the survival instinct, feels the need to throw her webs across the buildings and run away to recover and not die like a dog in the street, but she can't. She committed to New York, and she wasn't going to give up that way.

She would die trying.

The mechanical arm grabs her neck and lifts her through the air with no difficulty. As the metal tightens dangerously, she feels her skin pierce little by little, and her airway is completely blocked, making her unable to breathe. Haerin futilely grips the mechanical arm, trying at all costs to maintain her survival and allow some air into her lungs, but it is too strong. Her superhuman strength is depleted by taking so many blows and not being able to recover from them, and the shortness of breath turns her face so red that it's becoming purple.
