The crimson moon shone a light on Gerbos face. He shook his face and put a hand on his forehead, trying to remember what happened previously. He gasped, the grass looked like a pitch black void, large gray pines aligned in one direction only. Forward. There were no hoots, or caws of birds. Everything was monotone and bleak. No signs of life anywhere. He held his breath, his antennas drooping by each step he took forward. The only sound made was the sound of grass swishing beneath him.
It was all dark
No flowers
No dandelion seeds flowing through the air.
Nothing.
It's as if he was destined to walk like this forever. Alone with only his thoughts.
He trembled, it felt too real.
…oh grub this isn't a dream at all… i- it cant be..
He continued to walk through the lifeless woods, he shut his eyes minutes later.
Bump
He stumbled backwards and yelled. He shook, and shook, and shook. He cried and cried, never dared to open his eyes.
He felt like the forest spun around him until he felt nothing.
The smell of maple syrup and sweetness filled the air. He slowly opened his eyes and rubbed them. He was back in the barn. The old tall red barn. The old barn with large stacks of hay. The old red barn where he found out Hoppo was alive. He shook his head. His antennas twitched. He was on top of a large haystack off to the rear end of the barn. In front of him, another haystack with a plate. A plate with two freshly made flapjacks and a cup of milk.
In an instant he darted over to the plate and chowed down on the flapjacks and drank the milk until the cup was empty.
A month had passed since he was rescued or more or less, kidnapped by his friend, Hoppo and her gang of very, very, very tall bugs. Maybe even taller than Bugbo. They were safe and he even became friends with Ivory and the friendly Ant Farmer. He was glad they didn't forget about him and found him. Even if he did get hurt in the process. Of course they apologized but the bruises were still there, along with the other scars, bandaged.
Once he finished he left the plate on the haystack and walked down the wooden staircase. Downstairs, he peeked outside of the barn and saw Ant Farmer tending to the crops. He walked outside of the barn and looked around. He didn't want Bugbo to see him. After all, he was pretty sure he wanted to hurt him. He walked again.
“Hey Ant Farmer.”
The Ant Farmer looked up at Gerbo and waved.
They put their bright blue watering bucket down on the soil and stood up. The pink flowers and roots blinked and swayed side to side.
“Do you know where Hoppo and Ivory are at…?” he asked hoping to get an answer.
The ant farmer pointed to a small blue house ahead of the crops.
“Thanks Ant Farmer…” He responded and nodded his head. He walked off to the house. When he opened the door, it was unlocked to his surprise. He looked inside before taking his first step inside. He then heard Ivory and Hoppo talking from far away. Their voices are barely audible.
