Unfortunately all good things didn't last.

The triplets had bonded much more in the coming days, they spent time together and time apart. It was safe to say they were healing.

There was even talks of throwing water balloons at their two eldest brothers.

Alex was even slowly coming around to Marco. They still acted like they hated each other and that would probably always be the case but deep down Alex and Marco had a mutual understanding.

Alex never said anything but now he was coming around, he could also see through Marcos charade.

All three triplets could see it now.

But despite their growing trust of their found family, all three still believed it was the three of them against the world.

Even Skye, who had been the quickest to give her family a chance was still hesitant. It had barely been 3 months. The triplets did enjoy being around their family but they enjoyed bonding just the three of them even more.

They never got to experience normal stuff so even spending time doing homework together was enjoyable. They spent a lot of time in the room they had for just the three of them.

At school, they had the same friend group but they did enjoy time together, usually under the tree, where they could just be themselves. The three enjoyed having friends but they didn't realise how hard it was to maintain friendships. They gave just enough to keep their friends but they weren't really that close to them.

Skye started music lessons after school and Alex and James like they always had been were her biggest supporters.

Alex made a comment one day after they finished watching her practice. It was more of a joke then anything.
"I can't believe you both just sat and watched" Skye said.
"Of course we did. You're getting better" James said smiling and hugging Skye.

"Yeah we're like your own personal cheerleaders now" Alex grinned.

"Yep he's right. We'll always be in your corner supporting anything you decide to do" James agreed.

"If only I had my own cheerleader. You guys rather read books cheer me on" it wasn't said harshly, it was a teasing tone.

"Maybe when you actually make the team I'll become a cheerleader so I can cheer you on" Skye suggested.

Alex smirked "she's joining my side James" he said,  too excited to realise.

"Yes I suppose you're right. Our little Skye will probably have so many boys after her" James casually said, teasing Skye by calling her little, something she didn't like.

And a look of horror appeared on Alex's face, especially when he realised that most of the cheerleaders in the school were dating someone on one of the menu sports teams.

"Well if it's something you really want to do" Alex wasn't going to stop her.

"No thanks. You know the deal. We cheer each other on in private" Skye said knowing she would never want to be a cheerleader. She just wanted to see Alex's reaction.

Alex smiled happy he wouldn't have to threaten anyone.  The conversation changed quickly though and Alex and Skye started to ask James questions on his science project. They gave him a few ideas and he explained how they weren't possible. Alex then suggested an idea that he knew was impossible to see how James would react. James went on a rant on how stupid the idea was.

Skye and Alex grinned.

"We love you James" they both said at the same time. He was really smart and they loved how passionate he was.

Despite all the good moments,  Alex was struggling though. He didn't dare tell anyone, not even Lorenzo. He hated that they made him sell drugs almost every night. But now at nighttime he was beggining to grow restless. He loved the city at night. When he wasn't in dangerous places, he loved the quietness it offered. He loved the fresh air.

And so one night after saying goodnight, he checked on Skye and James who were both sleeping. Skye wasn't fully there with her sleeping but she was getting there.

Satisfied they were okay, he pulled on a hoodie and quietly snuck out.

They lived in a safe area, a quick walk around and back to bed.

Once he actually got out and onto the main road, he felt free. Like nothing was holding him back. There was no rules, no responsibilities. It was nice.

He let the sense of freedom get yo him though as he continued his walk instead of going home. The neighborhood was quiet. And he figured walking a bit further wouldn't hurt him.

How wrong he was.

He came across three men beating up another man. He wasn't stupid enough to try play hero but they must have had a fourth guy watching from a distance as their heads snapped round to face him.

"Fuck" He tried to run but didn't get very far.

"Look you carry on. I didn't see anything" he said.

They laughed as they cornered him.

"You seem to think we'll just let you go. Such a stupid kid" one of them mattered.

Alex gulped. He realised if he was going to get out of this situation he would need to fight back.

"That's exactly what I think. Either that or I'll show you why you're going to let me go"

They all laughed, they thought Alex was just a weak little kid. They underestimated him.

Alex wasn't naïve. He'd been in this situation before. He knew he wasn't as strong as them but he also knew everyone underestimated him so they let their guard down.
Now that he was being fed, he was getting stronger and his reflexes weren't as slow. He knew the type of men they were so he predicted the first punch thrown and he easily dodged it.

He was quick to let out some of his anger on the men.

The result being two unconscious men.

And Alex with bruises and probably a black eye.

The fourth man appeared, he didn't seem happy. He stopped Alex by coming up from behind and knocking him out. He wanted to kill the kid but it would be too messy on the street.

"Let's go" he told the conscious man.

"Okay but we've got a unconscious kid and these two. Then there's the dead target" the man replied.

"If they couldn't fight a 12 year old, they don't deserve to live. That being said, throw them in the cells when we get back. I don't want to be cleaning blood off the street" the man informed him.

"And the kid?"

"He can come with us"
