Chapter 8
Yeorin jumped over the window, her vision blurring. He was dead. He was gone. She had always wished for it and now it was done.
She looked up to check on Jisung but panicked when she didn't see him. Wiping away the tears she walked around the bed and saw him seated on the ground, hand clutching a dreadful paper in his hand.
Yeorin: What the fuck are you doing?
Jisung didn't look up but I saw his lower lips quivering with tears running down his cheeks. Sighing, she sat down next to him pulling her knees close. Yeorin looked into the mirror where he could see Jisung staring at her.
Jisung: Who's the girl, Yeorin?
Yeorin: Hm?
Jisung: The fourteen year old girl who was wronged... who was she? Please tell me its not you.
Yeorin's resolve was breaking as she swallowed with difficulty. But the silence had answered him as Yeorin closed her eyes, freely letting a tear escape. Her heart raced and before she could stop she was spilling everything. Things she never told her own brother.
Yeorin: I was fourteen... walking back home while sipping on banana milk after running an errand for my father. They were a bunch of drunkards walking around... young college students that too.
Her breath hitched the more she said.
Yeorin: They finished their business in one day but I was left wounded wherever they did it, until the land owners found me and called the ambulance who called the police. They got away because they were rich... but you know what was worse? It was my father who was the head of the investigating team.
She looked up to Jisung through the mirror and he was tearing up again.
Jisung: He didn't do anything?
Yeorin: He took the bribes before knowing anything about the victim... then when he found out it was his missing daughter... he couldn't take it and he left me alone... Johnny found me. Took me in. Gave himself the title of my brother which I took. Got me into the gang, promising I could take my revenge and leave.
Jisung: It-Its done right? Eight kills. Done no? Today was eighth right?
Yeorin: Yeah... But I have one more person left... the one who could have kept my childhood alive but abandoned me instead.
Jisung: ... Your... father?
Yeorin: Yeah...
Jisung: Will he remember you?
Yeorin: I'm his kid. If he could recognize me after all the beatings I took... he still will.
There was a short silence in which she wiped away her tears.
