There was a light tremor throughout Jiwon's body, the pen she was holding in her hand shaking. Her eyes flickered from the notebook in front of her and to the professor standing at the front of the class. His mouth was moving yet she only heard his blurred voice in the distance. She had tried for the past 30 minutes to focus, write notes but when she looked down at the page, it was blank.
"Hey, you okay?" Areum asked, looking at Jiwon with worry. This was unfortunately "normal" for her but it still scared Areum at times. She and Hyunwoo had only known Jiwon for a few years, only Seonhee had been there since Jiwon's childhood.
"Yeah, just... morning anxiety," Jiwon murmured, giving her best smile, though it looked more like a frown than a smile. Ignoring the fact that it was the afternoon and her failed smile, Areum reached forward to put her hand on top of Jiwon's, showing her a warm smile.
Jiwon had lived with anxiety for as long as she could remember. Her life had been like that for so long that she didn't know how life would be without it. And even though many adults and doctors had told her it could go away with help, the more time that passed, the less hope Jiwon had in that. At this point she had just accepted that she was limited. There were some things she couldn't do and some experiences she couldn't be a part of.
"Alright," Areum said softly, "just tell me if there's something I can do, okay?"
A nod was all Areum received in response, though Jiwon had turned her hand to grasp Areum's in hers, gripping it tightly. After all, physical touch was one of the few things that helped Jiwon in situations like this.
When the lecture was finally over, Areum and Jiwon walked out together, immediately spotting the two familiar figures both pushing each other and bickering. They could only laugh at the sight of them already fighting.
"Guys, come on," Jiwon called out to them as she and Areum neared them, yet she could only shake her head at their antics. "Can you not fight for maybe like two seconds?"
"She started it!" Hyunwoo exclaimed, letting go of the obvious chokehold he had Seonhee in.
"Oh wow, look at you being so mature," Seonhee taunted, rolling her eyes and walking to the two girls to give them a hug but not before landing a hard punch on Hyunwoo's upper arm.
