Jiwon could hear her heart thumping in her ears at a rapid pace as she was staring at her reflection in her mirror. When Jungwon had sent her the message asking if she wanted to call, she had almost immediately jumped up to check her appearance. Something in her wanted to look her best in front of him.
She had an impulsive urge to run to her bathroom and apply tons of makeup yet before she could move an inch, her signature ringtone bounced off the walls in her bedroom. Practically running to her bed, she grabbed her phone but was caught off guard when she saw a request from "Won 😽" to facetime.
Nevertheless, she ran her hair through her hair for the last time before accepting the call. Immediately the screen showed the boy who managed to make Jiwon's heart run this wild. He was wearing a cute smile, his dimples showing, making Jiwon smile as well.
"Hi," Jiwon uttered shyly, her teeth now showing when she smiled. Jungwon couldn't help but grin as well. He couldn't help but think her voice fit her very well and it made the butterflies he felt in his stomach turn into fireworks.
"Hi," Jungwon repeated her own words back to her. As soon as he spoke, Jiwon's heart almost skipped a beat. She almost forgot how to speak and she felt extremely stupid for acting this way just by facetiming him.
"You're much more confident on text," he commented with a teasing undertone, letting out a snigger when she cupped both of her cheeks.
"Ah, stop. I can't help it," Jiwon whined, refusing to look at her phone now, but she could still hear his laugh and now that she had heard it, she never wanted him to stop. When her gaze finally returned to the screen, Jungwon was smiling widely at her, his teeth showing.
"What did you do today?" Jiwon asked, trying to divert the subject away from her.
"You already asked that," Jungwon remarked, a small smirk planted on his face.
"Well, I want to hear an in-depth story about your day," Jiwon said, a tight-lipped smile on her face, eyes sparkling and Jungwon wondered if there was light shining in them or if that was just how they looked.
"Well okay, um so I woke up," Jungwon started and chuckled a bit before proceeding to spend the next half an hour, telling her about his day– which turned out to have been more interesting than he had painted it to be.
Jiwon listened with a constant smile on her face.
Even when he was talking about the parts that probably should be more boring, Jiwon still listened attentively, finding the way he spoke so passionately and lovingly about his work and friends, truly amazing.
After, they just talked about different things, Jiwon starting to randomly ramble and Jungwon being the one to now listen. They also began a heated discussion about what cake flavour was the best, Jiwon spending ten minutes straight explaining why chocolate cake was the best flavour.
When they ended the call it was well after midnight, neither realising how long they had been talking yet none of them minded and they both fell asleep with faint smiles on their faces and thoughts of the other person on their minds.
