"you sure he got everything?" kie asked.

"every bar. the whole enchilada." john b reassured lazily, forcefully pulling his cast off his arm. "look, it's not like i expected a happy ending or some shit."

"john b-" kie began, about to scold him for taking his cast off.

"what, kie? it's just a hairline fracture, who cares?"

"you should care! your arms gonna be messed up for life."

"lay off him, kie." jj, who was too busy smoking to join in their conversation from the start, said.

kailani had been eyeing him since he first sat down. he was her guilty pleasure, unfortunately. she loved seeing his muscles flex as he brought his hand up to take a puff out of his juul.

"he should care about this kind of shit!" kay interjected.

"yeah, john b, you should be more careful." jj changed his mind immediately.

john b rolled his eyes,"it's fine, see?" he wiggled his fingers.

"guys! guys!" pope panted, running to them, sweat covering every inch of his blouse. "oh- oh, god. i ran all the way here."

"you alright?" john b asked half-assedly.

"how was the interview?" jj asked.

"don't ask." pope panted, trying to regain control of his breathing.

"awesome."

"jb- look, i'm sorry dude. about everything."

"it's fine."

"but- but, i don't have a lot of time, and- and i have information that's tactically relevant."

kailani raised her eyebrows, wanting to hear the information that was so tactically relevant, pope had to run for his life to get them to hear it as fast as possible.

"so, before i had my interview, my dad said he was going down to the private airstrip to cut palms for the cameron's big plane. because it was too heavy, it needed a longer landing strip to take off. so, i'm there sitting in my interview, thinking to myself, 'hm.. why would cameron need a longer airstrip to take off? what could be so heavy to weigh it down?'"

john b sat up straight as he came to a realization.

"gold." jj realized.

"that's right." john b confirmed.

"exactly!" pope flailed his arms about. "guys, this is our chance, but it leaves tonight, and we have to go."

"guys, we can't give up now." kie stood up, feeling determined.

"what's the plan, big man?" jj asked.

"we're gonna steal that shit back."

john b, jj, and kie immediately ran to the twinkie. kailani stared at pope who was still trying to catch his breath.

"god, you need to go to the gym."

"i ran out of my interview."

"yeah, i know."

"no, i ran out in the middle of my interview."

"oh." she blinked, staring at pope. he just went against everything he said last night. "i'm sorry."
