"He's going to be fine. He's got a broken nose and a split lip. His face is swollen quite a bit but it looks like he protected himself. I'm going to keep him here over night to make sure he doesn't have a concussion." Mom told me after what seemed like forever in the waiting room. I had been pacing. I didn't want him to be hurt because of me. Niall tried to get me to sit but I yelled at him and told him not to touch me. The hurt, puppy dog look on his face made me feel really bad. I finally sat down now that I knew that Liam was going to be okay. Niall sat down next to me and rubbed my back. Mom stood in front of me patiently. "What?" I asked, I didn't have the patience to wait for her to ask. "What happened, Becca?" I looked around. A lot of people were in the waiting room. I didn't want to tell her the story in front of everyone. "Is there somewhere we can go that's a little more private, mom?" She nodded and led me to an office.
She sat down at the desk but I couldn't sit. I was too anxious to see Liam. "So, tell me." She urged. I swallowed deeply. I didn't want to tell mom that I was having sex with Liam but as a doctor, she needed to know. "Well, I have sort of been dating Liam and the guys didn't know so they followed Liam when he went to go meet me. We were sort of together.." Mom raised her eye brows. "I don't understand. They beat up Liam because you two were dating?" I almost laughed at that. "No, we were sort of together.. like intimately. We were having.." Mom cut me off, "I understand! Don't explain anymore about that. So what happened next?" I sat down now and put my face in my hands, "Josh went with the guys and when he saw Liam and I, he exploded. He kept yelling that he had to protect me. I tried to stop him but he was in a trance. Liam managed to push Josh off of him and that's when I shielded Liam and called the ambulance." I was crying again and usually I'd feel like a baby but I just didn't care.
"Well, I have to ask this although I hope that he chooses not to.. but will Liam be pressing charges?" Worry filled mom's face. She didn't want Josh to get in that much trouble. "No, I don't think so but you'll have to ask him. Mom, I don't really want to go home tonight." She nodded in understanding. She got up and went to a cupboard. It had blankets, pillows and clothes. "If you need anything else, you can ask me. There's only one other doctor on shift so just ask the secretary to page me." I looked at the couch that she was offering to me and I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep on it. "You can go join Liam if you want but I'm going to talk to you about that later." The sound of her voice was stern but I could tell she was enjoying this. She finally gets to have the talk with her little girl.
The boys left the E.R. and went back to my house. They were going to talk to Josh and calm him down a bit so that tomorrow when Liam and I go back to the house, we don't have to worry. I pushed open the door to Liam's room and almost died. He looked terrible. His face was swollen and dark. "Liam, are you awake?" I asked. I hugged the blankets and pillow to my chest. I was scared. I heard him moan so I walked over to his bed. I put my hand in his. His beautiful eyes opened and smiled at me. I leaned over him, "Hey, honey." "Becca.." I brushed the hair off his forehead, "What is it?" He squeezed my hand, "Will you lay with me?" I laughed and carefully curled up next to him on the bed. He groaned, "I got punched in the face a few times, not run over by a semi. Get over here." He pulled me on his chest and helped me cover us in blankets. It was nice. I could have fallen asleep right then if I could forget that he was hurt.
When I did fall asleep, it was only for a few hours. I woke up to the sun shining on my face. Liam's arms were wrapped around me protectively but it was obvious that he was in a deep sleep. I sat up and stretched. My body ached from sleeping on that bed. It wasn't big enough for two people. I slowly removed myself from the bed and opened the curtains more. It really was going to be a nice day. Lets hope everything went good today.
"Good morning, sleepy head." Mom teased as she entered the room with food. I ran over to it and almost scarfed it down before mom told me that it was for Liam and there was food waiting for me in the office. "Is he still asleep?" She asked. I looked over at my sleeping baby. He's so cute. He had a smile on his face and every now and then he would whisper my name. "I'd say so. Why?" Mom pointed to the spot next to Liam as she took a seat. I sat down and began to worry. I had no idea what she was going to say. Was it bad news about Liam? Was Josh threatening him some more? "We need to talk about last night." I laughed, "Okay." She narrowed her eyes at me, "I know I'm a pretty awesome mom, letting you kids do a lot of whatever you want as long as you've got it under control but I need to be serious." I nodded and tried to hide my smile.
