"It's you and me thats my whole world, they whisper in the hallway she's a bad bad girl"

Y/n POV
Third year. Hogwarts. Same castle, same excitement, same chaos—but somehow, everything felt different this year. I wasn't the new girl anymore. I had friends I trusted, routines I loved, and a little corner of the magical world that felt like mine.
I was walking through the train corridor, trunk in hand, scanning for a compartment for me, Hermione, Harry, and Ron. My curls bounced as I adjusted my pink cardigan, and I made sure my nails—baby pink, naturally—were perfect. Even small details mattered.
"Y/n! Over here!" Lavender's voice rang out, and I spun toward her. She was leaning against her trunk, giggling like always.
"Hey, Lav! Have you seen Harry?" I asked casually, though I already knew the answer.
"Nope! Not yet... but you won't believe what Seamus did!" she whispered, still giggling.
"Oh, no. What now?" I teased, rolling my eyes. "Please tell me he didn't blow up the compartment again."
Lavender grinned, cheeks pink. "Almost... but it was hilarious! Wait—look, there they are!" She pointed down the corridor.
And yes, there was Harry, dark hair a little messy from the wind, glasses slightly crooked, looking like he had just stepped out of one of those Hogwarts posters. Ron waved, freckled grin plastered across his face. I practically ran toward them.
"Harry! Over here! Oh, I've missed you!" My curls bounced as I bounded into the compartment, cheeks burning.
"Y/n!" Harry said, a small smile tugging at his lips. There was comfort in seeing him again—like coming home.
Hermione clapped her hands softly, settling her stack of books into the corner. "We're all together again. Third year, can you believe it?"
"Feels like we just got here yesterday," I said, brushing a curl behind my ear. "And somehow, it's going to be even crazier this year."
(Time Skip)
The train rumbled beneath us, rhythmic and soothing. I leaned back against the soft seat, listening to the magical hum of the Hogwarts Express, the distant hiss of steam, the clatter of trunks, and the excited chatter of students. We were all together, laughing and catching up—Hermione quizzing me on spells, Ron teasing Harry about forgetting his robes, Lavender and Parvati debating the best outfit for the first feast.
Suddenly, the carriage grew cold. Not normal cold, ice creeping into your bones, that shiver that makes your stomach twist. I noticed Harry stiffen beside me.
"D-Do you guys feel that?" I whispered, voice barely audible over the train.
Hermione's eyes widened instantly. "Oh no... a Dementor!"
The door to our compartment creaked open slowly, and a horrible, shadowed figure glided in. Its presence sucked the warmth out of the air. I felt my knees go weak, heart hammering.
"Harry!" I gasped, stepping toward him instinctively. His hands trembled slightly, but he tried to stand tall.
I gripped his shoulders, keeping my voice firm even as the cold gnawed at me. "It's okay, Harry. I've got you. Just... breathe."
The Dementor hovered closer, and I could see Harry's lips quiver, his green eyes wide and haunted. I dug my nails into my palms to keep myself steady.
And then, a familiar voice.
"It's all right, children. Stay calm."
I looked up to see Uncle Remus Lupin gliding into the compartment, wand raised. He moved with quiet authority, radiating a warmth that cut through the icy fear. "Dementors aren't here for you," he said softly, "they're looking for Black. Now, step back and let me handle this."
He waved his wand, and the Dementor recoiled slightly, hissing. I felt some of the freezing cold fade as Lupin's calm presence filled the compartment.
He handed Harry a chocolate bar. "Eat this. It'll help," he said, then turned to leave. "I'll speak to the conductor."
I pressed close to Harry, cupping his face in my hands. "Oh, Harry... it's okay now. You're safe," I murmured. My heart raced, chest tight with fear that had been replaced with relief. His green eyes met mine, and for a moment, everything froze: the cold, the Dementor, the chaos outside the train. Only us.
"I'm... okay," he whispered, voice shaky but steadying.
I let out a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding. "Good. Because I'm not letting anything get to you. Not this year. Not ever."
The train rumbled on, carrying us closer to Hogwarts, closer to friends, magic, and a year that promised danger, excitement, and maybe... moments that made your chest feel like it would burst.
And for now, all that mattered was that he was safe, and I was right there beside him.
