Chapter 1 (The Box)

Y/n pov:
beneath me is all that stands."Hello??? HELP, PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!" I scream at the top of my lungs as the large cage moves. red lights flashing, illuminating the walls as my screams and cries go unheard. All of a sudden, the cage comes to a stop as my body hits the cage, and my head pounds until light peeps through the cracks of the cage and the doors open. 30, maybe 50 boys stand around the edges of the cage as a blonde boy hops down and greets me. "Hello, love, I'm newt. Are you alright?" he said softly, his tone sweet and relaxing. I nodded my head as I was too scared to reply, causing him to form a small smile on his lips before he helped me up and out of the cage. As I finally stood on solid ground, I looked around to see huge walls of stone with vines and small houses that were hand built. "Welcome to the glade, greenie," a taller boy said as he walked over. "I'm alby. I'm the first in command, and this is newt my second in command." He said proudly. Newt waved, and I flashed him a smile before Alby showed me around and told me everyone's names and the jobs. "Chuck will help you settle in tomorrow. You will try out for jobs." Alby said pleasently with a smile before walking away, leaving me with a young boy with brown hair. "HI, I'm Chuck. Come with me!" He said loudly as she skipped over to a shelter. A smile formed on my lips as I followed him, and he helped me set up a hammock on two wooden pillars. As we finished, my eyes drifted to the walls again as I wondered what was out there and began to walk towards the closest opening. "Hey, wait! Don't go out there it's not safe, " Chuck said as he followed after me."What's out there?" I said softly as I looked out to see more walls and openings."That's the maze, " Chuck said before continuing. "It's not safe were not aloud out there," he finished as two boys jogged out. "Hey, Chuck, new greenie aye?" The tall boy with black hair said as they ran by a blonde one winked at me, making me become flushtered."I thought no one was aloud to leave?" I said as I looked at Chuck. "I said we're not aloud to leave their runners they know more about the maze than anyone," he replied as she started walking back to the shelter

Newts pov
"Hey, minho, how was today's run???" I yelled loudly as minho came back into the glade." Same old, same old same old I'm dying for some food though, " he said loudly with a chuckle as he ran over to me. "Fry is just finishing have you seen the new greenie it's our first girl everyone is going crazy" I said softly as I glanced over to her "yeah she's pretty shell have to be carefully the other boys may try to pull something but I'm off to grab a bite see ya in a bit newt" he said before jogging off my eyes still looking at her, her beautiful long h/c hair flowing down her back as she and Chuck talked.  "She's pretty, ain't she," zart said as he bumped my shoulder "yeah she is... that's the problem, " I said softly before getting back to work.
