One Year Ago.
His body was so close to mine and I wondered if he could at any point smell the rainy wet pine wood scent of the new body spray I got to put on just because he said he liked me wet,at least that's what I thought it meant.

Farewell to the old Dorothy who made fun of girls who dressed up or put in any effort just to please boys.

Took me only two years to fold.
Fourteen year old me would be so disappointed i did this.

But we weren't just talking about boys here we were talking about Jamari.

My fire.

The sound of claps startles me and burst out of my inner monologue bubble and I look to Jamari, the green eyed boy arching his brow questionably at me and I prepare myself for his ridiculousness.

"Here I thought I was irresistible but you never fail to give anything but me your attention Anderson"His soft, low voice murmurs and I find comfort in his tones.

He never raises his voice above it's current decibels, he says what has to say, your problem if you didn't hear him or thought he wasn't loud enough,he never raised his voice at anyone, not even me and that says a lot.

The constant toothpick he always keeps between his relaxed lips wobbles at his words and I find myself unable to take my eyes of it.

Thé toothpick of course not his lips.

His burgundy colored hair tousles in all directions, but the right one and I reach out to tame his wild curls, his hair was a really dark red,in fact almost completely black but the red hues unmistakable when the sun shines on it.

"Me being here with you is enough attention Mari"I counter maintaining the soft words and his brows furrow in disgust at the failed nickname I always seem to call him,my stubborn nature not settling with him calling me by my surname and since he doesn't have one for me to call him I settled for Mari, lame I know.

"You're always miles away in your head, tell me where you escape to"His voice makes everything seems like a secret, the wind blows heavily a tell tale sign of an onslaught of rain fall about to arrive, Jamari's favorite weather and my absolute worst, the sounds of thunder and darkness frightens my soul, times like this I hate being alone.

A thunder roars in the far distance igniting my anxiety, the roof top we are sat on gives a clear view of the lightening before the thunder.

Jamari curls his arm around me impossibly pulling me closer as if to remind me that he's here and a shiver runs through me.

I nuzzle my face into the soft fabric of his hoodie and matching sweatpants.
Talk about dressed for the weather, and I sat here with my tank top and poor excuse for a pajama's short.

"Nowhere important that's for sure"I reply remembering his words.

"Anything with you is important"Thé words leaves Jamari's lips and we pause
and stare at one another for a second or two before bursting into laughter.

"Never do that again"I chuckle lightly punching his shoulders. He smirks knowingly, fiddling with the ends of my hair,my golden brown wavy hair a contrast to his.

"For Christmas, you coming with us and Aubrey"He words it like he's telling me not asking.

"Sure, not like any one's expecting me home anyway"I mumble.
