Author's Note:

Sorry that this chapter wasn't published earlier. I had to make significant changes to Y/n's backstory.

Additionally, I won't be placing much emphasis on using honorifics in the story. I sometimes forget when and how to use them, given that the appropriate honorifics depend on the relationship between the characters.

I also hope you don't mind if I occasionally switch the characters' first and last names. I sometimes have trouble distinguishing between the two. My intention is to use their surnames when I am addressing them, but to use their first names when Y/n is addressing them.

However, I got lazy, so I didn't bother fixing much of it.

Thank you for your understanding.

Y/n POV

- Flashback –

I don't remember much of what happened, but I woke up in the hospital with a bandage around my left eye. My mom was there, sitting beside my bed, while my siblings were sleeping on the couch.

"Mom?" I called weakly, feeling a hot, painful sensation in my throat as I spoke.

Mom stirred awake, groaning as her eyes met mine. We stared at each other for a second before she engulfed me in a hug. It felt strange at first, but I soon melted into her warmth. Still, I couldn't understand why she was crying.

"Mom, what happened? Why are you crying?"

Ignoring the stirring pain in my head, I watched as my mom cried. This woke up my siblings. The youngest looked at me with confusion, while my older brother gazed at me with a mix of worry and relief.

"My sweet baby girl," Mom cried, burying her face in my hair as she continued to call me her sweet baby girl.

It felt cringe-worthy, but for what seemed like the first time, I felt loved and cared for. I almost got worried as she kept checking on me and asking if anything hurt. By this time, my older brother had called the nurses and doctor assigned to me.

"Mom, I'm fine," I said, trying to ignore the headache and my dry throat.

"Don't speak. You haven't been awake for a month," she said, surprising me.

"A MONTH?!"

Suddenly, my head started to hurt more. I closed my eyes, trying hard to push off the pain. Flashes of images appeared in my head like a movie. I could still hear the crowds cheering, my friends and family cheering for me. Then there were people around me. Their faces were blurred, but I could make out slight movements as they gave me high fives and patted me on the shoulder.

Then there was this net, looming over me. It felt like it was trapping me. I couldn't move to get away as the net came closer. Soon, a ball appeared—a flash of yellow and blue—followed by the horrified look on my dad's face.

The next thing I knew, I was screaming for my dad. But all I heard was my mom calling for the doctor before everything went black again. I swear it only felt like a moment of silence and darkness before I woke up again in the same room. White walls and ceilings. The sound of the beating heart monitor. Two people stood at the foot of my bed.

Their backs were turned to me. When I tried to call out to them, a hand made me stop. My dad, looking beside me, held a worried look on his face.

"Dad?" I asked, my sight blurring, but I could still make out his strong features.
