Agastya's Pov

It's been a week since I arrived here. Vaani and I are back to where we started. I'm not blaming her for this; it's entirely my fault. I've apologized to her several times, but there's still a lot of tension between us. We live in the same house but stay in separate guest rooms. Neither of us uses the bedroom we used to share before my mistake. Also, what's the deal with Mr. Sarthak Roychowdhury? Why is he always visiting Vaani and calling her? He needs to be dealt with.

I was in my room, working on my laptop when the sound of a car caught my attention. Glancing at the clock, I noticed it was 8:30 PM. "It must be Vaani," I thought to myself. I closed my laptop and headed to the main door to greet her.

"Not again." I muttered.

I noticed Sarthak getting out of the driver's seat, and Vaani stepping out from the other side. Sarthak walked over to Vaani and helped her with some bags, suggesting they had been shopping. I couldn't believe it. I shot him a disapproving look. Our eyes briefly met, but Vaani quickly looked away. Then Sarthak put his arm around Vaani and whispered something in her ear, to which Vaani responded by lightly slapping his chest. Since when were they this close? I approached them, feeling slightly puzzled.

"Oh, Hey Mr. Basu !" Mr. Roychowdhury greeted me.

"Hii !" I greeted him back in a much reluctant tone.

"I was just dropping Vaani home since her car broke down." He said. "Ok, I will take my leave now. Goodnight guys." Saying so he got into his car and drove out of the gate leaving Vaani and me in an awkward silence.

Vaani walked inside without uttering a word, and I silently trailed behind her.

I was on my way to my room when Vaani called out from the kitchen, "Have you had dinner?"

I considered replying, "No, I was waiting for you," but I wondered if it might come off as too cheesy.

"Agastya." She called out once again. Ignoring my inner thoughts, I replied, "No."

"Fine." She said. "I will warm up the food."

We sat in silence, eating our food without saying a word. Vaani was engrossed in her phone, and I was contemplating whether I should start a conversation with her.

Before I could, Vaani said, "Your parents are coming tomorrow and hence I guess we need to shift into our old bedroom. They didn't say for how long they gonna stay but yah that's it. I'll move my stuff today, and you can do the same whenever you're free."

"Uh ok. Uh...umm...do you....uh....need any help with moving your stuffs ?" I asked.

"No. I will be fine." She replied and got up from the table to put her dish in the kitchen sink.

Next evening

Vaani's Pov

"Ma'am shall I book a cab for you ?" Sahana asked.

I've already asked Sahana to stop calling me "ma'am" since she started dating my best friend, Dev, but she continues to do so at the office.

The weather outside was dull and windy. The sky was overcast, with thick clouds hanging low, casting a somber shadow over the surroundings. It's going to be monsoon season soon.

"I won't need a ride. I plan to take the metro or a bus. You can leave for today," I replied.

"Ok, ma'am. See you tomorrow."

The clock struck 7 when I received a call from the receptionist. "Yes." I said.

"Ma'am, Agastya Sir is here." The receptionist replied from the other side. "He says its urgent."

"Send him upstairs then."

"Ma'am as usual I informed sir that you were in your office and he could come to meet you there. However, he insisted that you come down to the waiting area after completing your work.

"Let him know that I'll be ready to meet in a few minutes. Thanks," I responded.

After hanging up, I checked my phone to see if he had called me, but I realized that its battery had died.

After completing all the necessary works, I headed down to meet Agastya.

"Hey" he greeted me with a warm smile.

"Hii. Now, tell me what was so urgent." I came straight to the point.

"I overheard you chatting with the mechanic this morning about your car needing a day or two for repairs. I'm here to pick up my wife," he said with a lopsided grin.

"Okay. Let's go." I agreed.

"Wow, you agreed this fast?" He said in a dramatic tone.

"Let's put the drama aside and get going," I stated, somewhat surprised at my own decision to join Agastya. Despite his reference to me as his wife, I made a conscious effort to remain composed and unaffected.

Halfway through our journey we were greeted by gentle patters of raindrops and by the time we reached home the gentle patters have turned into big heavy droplets of rain.

"Do you have an umbrella with you ?" I asked.

"No. But there is one in the car deck. You wait here, I will go get it."

"Step out," he tapped on the window with an umbrella in hand, slightly soaked from the rain.

"Be careful." He said as we took slow steps towards the main door.

As we approached the door, my feet slipped out from under me, and before I knew it, I was caught in his arms, preventing me from hitting the ground. In the chaos, the umbrella tumbled to the ground, leaving us entirely soaked by the pouring rain.

"Unlike last time, this time had a real cinematic vibe to it, don't you think?" Agastya remarked, flashing a smile in my direction.

I smiled as I reminisced about the time he fell into my arms.

I looked up to see him already staring at me. He was handsome as ever, no doubt. The raindrops accentuated his rugged charm and added a sense of mystery to his captivating presence.

"Vaani, where are you lost?" He murmured, gently lifting me up and drawing me closer to him.

"Vaani," Agastya murmured near my lips, his eyes locking with mine.

"Agastya." As I uttered his name, he bridged the distance between us with a kiss that sparked a blaze of our shared memories, emotions, anguish, and affection.

Lost in the moment of our kiss, everything else disappeared. All that existed was him, holding me as if I were his lifeline, while the rain enveloped us in its tender embrace.

Are we destined to be together forever?
