Agastya's Pov
I suddenly felt like a giddy teenager who had just experienced his first kiss with his crush.
When my mom opened the door for us, a look of concern washed over her face. "Oh my gosh! Why are you both drenched?"
"Agastya, I've told you countless times to keep an umbrella in your car, haven't I? Vaani, are you okay? Hurry and change into something warm and dry, dear," my mom urged.
"And what about me, Mom? I'm drenched too, you know," I exclaimed.
"Enough with the drama, Agastya. You go and change as well," she replied.
"Alright, as you wish, Your Highness," I quipped.
Vaani and I stepped into our room, a heavy silence hanging in the air between us.
"You.." we both said at the same time. "Uh..." again.
Why the hell is it this awkward between us ?
I told Vaani, ''Feel free to use the washroom in this room. I'll quickly change in the next room.''
Vaani seemed a bit hesitant as she replied, ''Uh...ok.''
After freshening up, I headed downstairs for dinner. Mom and Dad were already eagerly waiting for us, and Vaani joined us soon after.
The dinner ended with small talk, mostly consisting of my parents doting on Vaani and bashing me for reasons unbeknownst to me.
As I entered the room, I found Vaani standing on the verandah, gazing out at the raindrops cascading from the sky.
"Vaani," I called out, and she responded with a soft hum.
I stood silently by her side, gazing at her face, which seemed to express a blend of sadness and happiness simultaneously.
"Agastya, can you believe our contract is almost up? It's actually pretty funny when I think about it. I'll admit, I couldn't stand you when we first got married. But then something changed when you pulled me onto the dance floor during the hotel's grand opening. I tried to push those feelings aside, but they all came rushing back when the lights went out and you fell into my arms." She chuckled softly before continuing, "And then you went into full 'let's not fall in love' mode and shut me down. I get why you did it, but maybe I should have listened to you back then."
"Vaani.."
"Vaani, I'm truly sorry. I feel like such a fool for trusting Pragya and letting my insecurities get the best of me. I should have talked with you instead of making such a stupid decision. I can't believe how I acted back then." I said, frustrated with myself.
Suddenly Vaani's phone started ringing.
"Hello." Vaani picked up her phone.
"Hello Sarthak."
This Sarthak......he really needs to dealt with. I muttered.
"What ? Really ?" Vaani laughed....Ok, she freaking laughed. What the heck did this Sarthak say now ?
"I will really try dear."
DEAR ??????????????????? SERIOUSLY ???????????????? HAHA......I scoffed.
"Okay, okay honey, I will let you know by this Friday, okay ?"
HONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I GUESS THIS SARTHAK REALLY REALLY REALLY WANTS AND FREAKING NEEDS TO BE DEALT WITH. SHALL I JUST DIP HIM IN HONEY AND THROW HIM TO THE HONEYBEES AS A FEAST ? I pondered.
"Goodnight." Vaani cut the call and looked at me. "It's late Agastya. Let's sleep. You can take the couch. Goodnight." She said, before making her way to bed.
WHAT ?? COUCH ??
Before she can escape, I pulled her to myself, caging her between my arms.
"Vaani....I....uh don't mean to intrude ok....don't get me wrong....uh....how come Mr. Roychowdhury is your dear and honey ? Don' get me wrong ok....I am just curious." I asked.
Vaani's Pov
It was actually Reva, Sarthak's sister. She was just inviting me for a short trip to Goa with friends and families before her wedding. She's also gonna host her bachelorette party there. But for now Mr. Basu can stay in the dark.
Agastya's Pov
"Do I sense jealousy Mr. Basu ?" Vaani asked, batting her eyelashes at me.
"No...not at all...why will I be jealous?"
I am not jealous. Haha....I am way too grown up to feel such petty feelings. Why will I be jealous ?
"Goodnight." Before I could comprehend what happened, Vaani has already taken the entire space on bed and left a pillow and a blanket for me on the couch.
"Noooooooooo..." I groaned and much to my dismay take the couch.
Before I could doze off, I heard some murmurs, "Vaani 1, Agastya 0."
"Vaani.." I peaked at her to see that she has already dozed off.
Did I hear it wrong ?
