“Hello, I'm Jeongguk, and this is my assistant, Yeonmi.” I glared at him when he addressed me as his assistant.
“H..ello?” The person, who survived the accident, stammered when he saw unfamiliar people standing in front of his door.
“Can we come inside?” Jeongguk said with a tight polite smile.
“Uh sure.” We stepped inside.
“Do you live alone?” I asked him once we settled down.
“Yeah. Do you guys want some coffee or tea?” Just as Jeongguk was about to give a list of orders, I strictly said.
“No, it's alright. We came to talk with you about the accident you had a month and two weeks ago.”
“Oh that? Sure. Ask me anything about it.”
“Okay, so what happened in the accident Kai?” Jeongguk asked, caution about him.
“I was just taking this passenger with me to his house and then a truck suddenly hit us from the back at the bridge and after that, i–it was all just blur. I don't even remember barely opening my eyes during the whole car spinning thing. I only remember opening my eyes at the hospital.” Kai told us, with slight uneasiness but still continued.
“Do you know that the passenger died?” Kai nodded as a yes to Jeongguk.
“Yes, it was really sad to hear it. He died drowning, I'm still in guilt.”
“He... he was my boyfriend, the passenger who died.” I spoke in difficulty.
“Oh my god, I'm so sorry, I'm really really sorry! I feel so bad right now. I'm really sorry.” He apologized even though it wasn't his fault.
“No, it's okay. What happened wasn't your fault, it's the drunk driver's fault.” I lied to him.
“I guess, we'll get going then. Thanks for co-operating!” Jeongguk bowed with smile.
“No problem. I didn't ask this earlier, why are you asking this?” Kai asked after leading us to the doorstep.
“Nothing, we were just interrogating everyone who got into an accident in that area and Yeonmi's boyfriend just... happened to die there.” Jeongguk gave a pity look to me while I had my head down.
