The room's lights flicker ominously, casting erratic shadows that dance across the walls. A sense of palpable dread hangs in the air, heavy and suffocating.

I struggle to sit up, my limbs sluggish from the lingering effects of the sedative coursing through my system. Panic thrums in my chest as my mind grapples with the haze of confusion and the urgent need to flee.

Max's eyes dart nervously towards the door, his expression a mix of fear and determination. He steps closer to my bed, his voice a strained whisper. "There's no time to explain, but if we don't move, they'll-"

Before he can finish, a loud, mechanical hum reverberates through the walls, a menacing growl that seems to come from all directions.

The room plunges into darkness, the sudden loss of light sending my heart racing. Alarms blare, their shrill cries adding to the chaos, and the sound of footsteps echoes ominously from the corridor beyond.

Max grabs my arm, his grip firm and desperate, pulling me from the bed with a strength born of urgency. "We have to go, now!" His voice is taut with fear, a tremor that sends a chill down my spine.

I stagger to my feet, the room spinning around me as I struggle to maintain balance. The hallway outside is dimly lit, bathed in the eerie glow of emergency lights that cast long, distorted shadows.

A flash of light from the corridor silhouettes a group of shadowy figures advancing towards the door, their movements deliberate and threatening.

Max yanks me out of the room, and we stumble into the narrow hallway. The walls seem to close in around us, the air thick with tension and the acrid scent of fear.

Every shadow feels alive with menace, every creak of the floor a potential threat. The pounding of my heart drowns out the alarms, each beat a reminder of the danger closing in on us.

"Who are they?" I gasp, my voice trembling as I struggle to keep up with Max. "Why are they after us?"

"There's no time!" Max hisses, his grip tightening on my arm as we race down the corridor. His eyes flicker with a wild intensity, a desperation that only fuels my growing terror. "Just keep moving!"

We round a corner, the flickering lights barely illuminating the path ahead. The echo of our footsteps blends with the ominous thud of the approaching figures, a haunting rhythm that drives us forward.

The walls around us seem to shift and sway, the world narrowing to a tunnel of frenzied motion and unrelenting fear.

A door looms ahead, its outline barely visible in the dim light. Max barrels through it, dragging me in his wake. We tumble into a stairwell, the air cooler but no less oppressive.

The metal steps clatter beneath us as we descend, the sounds of pursuit growing louder, more insistent.

"What is this place?" I manage to choke out between gasps for breath, the question tearing from my throat in a desperate plea for understanding.

"Not now," Max snaps, his voice raw with urgency. "Just keep moving. We have to get out before they catch us."

The darkness presses in, the stairwell twisting and turning as if trying to disorient us. Each flight we descend feels like a step deeper into a labyrinth, the way out obscured by shadows and the mounting sense of dread. My legs burn with exertion, my lungs aching as I struggle to keep pace with Max's relentless speed.

As we reach the bottom, a heavy door blocks our path. Max shoves it open, and we spill into a dimly lit basement, the air thick with the musty scent of neglect.

The room is a maze of pipes and old machinery, the hum of unseen engines vibrating through the walls.

Max pulls me forward, his movements frantic as he scans the room for an exit. "There!" he cries, pointing towards a narrow tunnel at the far end.
