Observing the teachers appearence, I come to realize it's the "scary" chemistry teacher Jett was talking about earlier in lunch. Because of the hectic week, I haven't been able to look at the teachers on our class schedule.

With her piercing green eyes as a warning she places her books on the table to her side.

"Good day class, Im Professor Sabine although you may know me as 'Viper' as that is my name on the battlefield."

The classroom roars paying no attention to the glaring teacher in the front. Some even throwing paper planes at eachother.

"I'll have you know that Valorant High is not here to baby you kids. We are preparing you for war. A brutal fight against your own kind and face. So if you think this behavior is acceptable ANYWHERE other than here, then you are gravely mistaken...
If you have any complaints on this class, try thinking in the future on how when you're gasping for air, the least of your worries will be on how **I** pushed you to the limit."

The room goes silent.

The professor scans the room presumably for worried faces.

"Now with that introduction over, please open your textbook to page 4-"

"Professor!" Neon raises her hand.

"What is it? Hm.. Neon."

"What did you mean when you said you're preparing us for war? I thought this was just a normal high school for radiants..."

"Ah... So it seems Principal Brim hasn't informed the students, well ill take the pleasure of doing so..."
She continues

"The catch to the school being open and free to all radiants is that.. Youll be admitted into the Valorant Protocol after graduation. A protocol made to ensure the safety and to prevent rogue radiants on the loose. As you kids may know, the Venice incident... IS because of a rogue radiant. And we're here to prepare you to fight those who intend to use their powers for such evil."

Whispers and shocked gasps fill the room. With students going pale at the thought of fighting in a warzone. I mean.. come on! They're attempting to make a bunch of kids weapons of war! Who wouldn't be shocked?

**SLAM!**
Professor Sabine slams the whiteboard with a ruler.
"Quiet down! Now open your textbooks to page 3!"

With the noise slowly depleting in the classroom, I turn to Yoru just to see him gazing out the window without a care in the world.

I wonder how he'd be on the battlefield...

------------------(After school)---------------------

*Sigh*
"I wonder if the professor was serious about that fighting thing..."

"Right! I mean how could we train for only 2-3 years and be prepared to fight other people with crazy ass powers like us."
Jett pouts in frustration

"Anyways... You still going that job of yours?"

"Hm? Yeah still haven't payed Raze back for the console.. UGH I don't wanna see his stupid face! He's totally gonna make my job even harder than it actually is."

"LOLLLL oh- this is my turn, see you next week!"

"Yeah see you!"

---------------------(In cafe)------------------------

I open the door with a ring, looking around to see only one or two tables filled.

"Good afternoon Mister! Mind if I clock in?" I say heading towards the register.

"Phoenix! My best worker! We missed you. Now get your ass in and get to work." He says with a grin.

"Yeah yeah."

Now I have to be honest, for a minimum wage job it's quite fun to work as a server. I mean, rude customers aside, it's not that bad! And if I keep this up I'll get to paying raze in no time.

Is what I keep telling myself before clocking in ever since that Yoru came into my life...

------------------------------------------------------

Serving some customers, I hear the door open
*Ring*

"Hi! Welcome- oh."
My customer service grin in which I've mastered the art of maintaining quickly turns to a frown.

"Hey."
He says with a smirk
"Got a table?"

"Yes... Right this way..."
My teeth grinds as I lead Yoru to an empty table at the back.

I put the menus on the table and with the best (fakest) smile I say with a forced voice-

"If you don't have any questions I'll head away now-

"Who said I didn't have any?" He interrupts me.

"Oh I'm sorry, what's your question?" I'm basically cutting off my circulation with how hard I'm squeezing my fist.

"What are you gonna do about the protocol? You know after graduation, we only have 2-3 years untill we have to join."

"Oh- um... I haven't really thought about it mate. Just go with the flow I guess."

"Well that's expected, never really took you for the thinking type. Must be the orange hair dye getting to your head."

"Hah! Big talk for a guy with BLUE. HAIR." I retort back.

With a heavy sigh, I make my way to help other tables in my section. Before he leaves I quickly tell him.

"We'll talk when I'm finished with my shift, won't be long. You'll wait won't u Blue jay?"

"Blue jay? Whatever fire boy."
He chuckles while walking away.

-------------------------------------------------------

"So, any plans for the future now that we've heard about the protocol?"
I ask.

"Eh I'll probably just continue attending school here. " He ask in that monotone voice of his.

"Wow thought you'd quit. You're probably the type to not wanna get their hands dirty."
I turn  to face him.

"As if. Atleast it's better then having my whole goal at school to be popular."

"Just wait and see. Now that we have the protocol training I'll have more time then EVER to flex both my mind and body."

He pauses.

"Huh what up bruv?"

"Nothing. Heh doubt anybody would wanna see that stick you call a body."

"Whatever man" I say with a chuckle
