BLAIR'S POV
December 4th, 2007

I decided I needed a breather from the party, which was a lot more crowded than I'd expected it to be. I looked at Alice, taking note of the fact she was in the living room with Dan, before slipping out of the front door and sitting down on the patio steps.

I pulled a pack of cigarettes out of my skirt pockets and lit them up with my baby pink lighter, inhaling deeply before letting the smoke go. I didn't really wanna be at the party. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy partying, I did, but this one just really wasn't my vibe. I had a lot on my mind anyway, and the party itself wasn't all that fun. I liked summer parties way more.

I'd barely gotten two minutes alone when I felt a presence next to me. I didn't mind when I saw who it was, though: Bill. I smiled at him and he sat down, eyeing the cigarette in my hand.

"I didn't take you for a smoker," he said, pulling out his own cigarette and lighting it up.

"Really?" I asked, "I definitely took you for one."

"Not surprising. Still, you shouldn't do that, it'll harm your lungs."

"That's a little hypocritical. Aren't you a singer? Surely you should be worried about your vocal cords."

"How'd you know that?"

"Bill, most people in school know, it's not exactly uncommon knowledge."

"I know, I know. I just didn't expect you to know, all things considered."

"Just because I didn't like you didn't mean I didn't hear stuff about you. Everyone was, like, totally obsessed with you in sophomore year. I, for one, didn't understand the appeal."

Bill let out a laugh. "I take offence to that. I totally understand the appeal. I was hot, I could sing, I had really cool hair."

I jokingly rolled my eyes at his vanity, leaning my head on the patio railing.

"Anyway, Blair, how come you're out here? The party's totally booming."

"I'm just not having fun. I prefer when it's summer, and I can, like, jump in the pool and stuff. Winter parties are boring."

"Because you're standing around doing nothing. Come back in, I'll make it not boring."

I smiled as Bill grabbed my hand and practically forced me to my feet. I quickly flicked my cigarette away before following him inside, both of us heading over to where everyone seemed to be dancing.

I was instantly having more fun with Bill. He handed me drink after drink and both of us practically threw them down our throats, until we were both reasonably wasted.

I'd made my way out of the crowd and towards the living room to look for Alice, but she wasn't there anymore. I huffed, turning around and bumping right into Tom's chest.

"Wow, careful, Blair," a deep voice said. I looked up to see Tom, surprised he was down here and not somewhere hidden with his girl of the night.

"Hey, Tom. Have you seen Alice? She was in here last time I saw her, but now I can't find her."

"I saw her go upstairs with Dan earlier, don't think you wanna interrupt them."

I sighed. I was happy Alice was getting somewhere with Dan, I knew she liked him, but it felt like a waste for her to take him straight to bed. Could they not at least date for a bit first?

"You don't seem to happy about that," Tom said, "Do you like Dan?"

"I just don't like how Alice is going about the whole thing. She likes him, she shouldn't take him straight to bed, that never ends up with a genuine relationship."

"I guess."

BILL'S POV
December 4th, 2007

As I watched Blair get seemingly upset about Alice and Dan sleeping together, it felt like someone had reached into my chest and crushed my heart.

I'd fell for her quick. I wasn't in love by any means, but I really really liked her, and to think she could like one of my closest friends hurt. If it was anyone else, I wouldn't mind, but why Dan? What if they got together and I had to see it? I couldn't be mad at anyone, it's not like either of them knew I liked her.

Still, I stormed out of the party and walked back home, climbing into my bed without bothering to change. Tom followed soon after, walking into my bedroom and turning on the light.

"What?" I asked, not having to look up to know who'd entered my room.

"Why'd you leave the party? It's only twelve."

"Why did you leave?"

"I was obviously coming after you, asshole. Bill, talk to me. What's wrong?"

"Blair likes Dan." I heard Tom snicker behind me. "Thats not funny, Tom you know how much I-"

"She doesn't like him."

"Then why's she so upset about him going upstairs with Alice?"

"Because she's worried about Alice, not because she wants Dan. You have nothing to worry about, no one else is in the picture. Not that I know of, anyway."

"Well now I just feel stupid."

"It's fine, it just shows you like her."

"I guess."

"You coming back?"

I shook my head. "No point. I'm gonna text Blair and let her know I've left, though."

"You think she's gonna be looking for you?"

"I hope she is."
