BLAIR'S POV
December 31st, 2007New Year's Eve. As usual, I was spending it at a party, but this time, fire the first time, it was the Kaulitz twins' party. There were people from school, but also a lot of people I didn't know. Their bandmates, people they'd presumably met in bars, some people from their elementary school. It was booming, but that was okay, because tons of people could fit in the brothers' huge house.
I look around me at everyone, before beginning to search for Alice, or any of my friends. My skirt swished around the top of my tights as I tried not to stumble in the new heals I'd got for Christmas - they still needed breaking in.
I'm not quite watching where I'm going, my drink swirling around in its cup as I bump into someone's chest, looking at the man. He was just a bit taller than me, wearing a graphic tee and blue jeans. He had blond hair and brown eyes.
"Sorry!" He said, his strong arms reaching out to steady me, making sure I didn't spill my drink on my light coloured dress.
I smile up at him. "It's okay, I wasn't looking where I was going. I'm Blair."
"Gustav. I haven't seen you around before, you must be one of Bill's schoolmates."
I nod. "Mhm. I'm in his homeroom and his chemistry, he tutors me!"
"Ah, I've heard of you. You left your jacket at his place one time, had him rushing out of band practice to take it to your house."
"Band? You're in his band?"
"Mhm. I'm the drummer." Gustav smiled proudly, causing me to smile, too. He seemed sweet, I could see why Bill and Tom were in a band with him.
"Drums, hm. That explains the strong arms." The comment slipped out. It wasn't even intentionally flirty, just a statement of fact, but Gustav smirked slightly.
"Strong enough to catch a girl from falling right in her ass, at least."
I giggle. I'm about to say something else, to ask if he's seen Alice, or anyone else who'll know where she is, before I hear a mass of voices all around me, chanting.
"Ten!"
"Holy shit," Gustav said, "I didn't realise how late it was already."
"Me neither, I just got here! I dk t have anyone to kiss!"
"You know, neither do I..."
Gustav was looking at me in a way that betrayed all his thoughts. I knew that, in a matter of seconds, everyone would be kissing someone, so who the hell was I to deny him and create an embarrassing moment for both of us? Plus, I could do with a good kiss.
"Eh, why the hell not."
"Three... Two... One... Happy New Year!"
Gustav and I both lean in to each other, our lips meeting in the middle. His lips move against mine for a few moments, but he doesn't do anything crazy. We pull away and I laugh.
"First time kissing a stranger?" Gustav asks.
"Yeah, actually."
Gustav chuckles. "Anyway, if you're looking for Bill, he's in the living room with a few school friends. Probably your friends, actually."
"You read my mind, Gustav. I'll see you around, okay?" Gustav nods and I head into the living room, finding Bill, Tom, Alice, Dan and Felix, like Gustav said I would. I take a seat on the couch next to Bill, his arm stretching across the back of the couch but not quite touching me.
"Hey, you. You just arrive?" He asks.
"I got here just in time for the countdown."
"Bet you had to watch everyone awkwardly kiss, huh?"
I shrug, smirking. Bill's arm instantly moves, and he sits back a bit to get a better view of my face. "You kissed someone?" He asks, shock in his voice. He seems upset, but I try not to delude myself. Being upset would mean he's jealous. He's not jealous, just surprised. Yeah, that's all.
"Your drummer."
At that, Tom's head snaps up. A smirk forms on his face and he chuckles lowly. "Kissing strangers, that's not very Blair Schroeder."
I look at Tom and playfully roll my eyes. "You know what they say. New year, new me."
