When I See You Again: On Hold

Chapter 29

Patrick's P.O.V

I reach for my phone that's on my night stand and check the time.

10:04 am

I decide to crawl out of bed and get some breakfast.

I turn on the coffee maker and the T.V as I make scrambled eggs.

I watch 'Shark Week' (a series of shows for a week on sharks) as I crack the two eggs into a pan.

I scrunch my face up as I watch reenactments of people getting bitten by sharks.

Sometimes the T.V is a a little to realistic.

I finish making my breakfast and sit down at the table with my glass of orange juice.

I say grace then start to eat.

Yes I said grace and it was only me.

Don't judge.

Anyway.....

I decided to give Autumn a call.

I dial her number, it rings twice then she picks up.

"Hello Pat." Autumn says

I can almost hear her grinning.

"Hey babe, whats up?" I ask

"Nothing." She replies

"I was wondering if you wanted to go to the beach? Road trip to Florida? Considering the hockey season is going to start up soon...... Practice and Pre game that is....." I say

"Sure. That sounds great!" Autumn says

"Bye." I say

"Bye." She replies

We arrived in Florida after our long hours in the car.

We checked into our hotel and headed straight to the beach.

"Patrick........ I don't know if I wanna go in the ocean..... I've never been in it before.............." Autumn tells me

"Come babe. It's ok I'll be right there with you." I reassure her

"Ok Pat..... I trust you......" She's says ask she grabs my hand and heads to the water.

After that everything felt like it was in slow motion.

It was like a typical romance move. Where the guy and girl skip along the beach and in the water. The water slowly splashing up as they run in. Both of their hair moving in slow-mo.

Or it was like a cheesy love song with the video.

We get in the water and start splashing one another, both of us laughing at one another.

Wow am I in love or what?!

And may I say so my self she looks dang good in a bathing suit.

Hopefully I didn't make it to obvious.

My eyes were almost popping out of my head..... and I almost started to drool.

Ok maybe a little dramatic......

But close to it.

I'm snapped out of my thoughts as I hear a scream.

What the?!

I look to see a small pool of blood formed around Autumn.

It took me a little while to realize it was a shark.

It's like I was in a total different mode.

I just got in anger mode, protective mode.

I almost lost her once. I'm not losing her again!

I try and fined the shark.

I finally do and I punch it in the nose as hard as I could.

And with that it was gone.

I grab Autumn and pull her up to the beach.

Thank God we weren't in deeper water or else the shark would of had more of an upper hand.

We were only in about Two-Three feet of water.

It was a small shark as well.

Once again.... Thank God.

I look where the shark bit her.

On her calf.

She's losing blood pretty quickly but I took a towel and put as much pressure on it as possible.

"Patrick......?" Autumn mumbles faintly

I look at her with glossy eyes.

"This is all my fault!" I tell her getting a little angry

"Patrick........ It's ok. It was meant to happen. I just wanted to tell you..... I love you!" She says

I start to weep and she doesn't say anything.

Her eyes start to roll back in her head.

"No!" I yell

I hear the paramedics coming and I know their close.

"Their coming! Hold on!" I tell her squeezing her hand

"You brought me to the darkness so you could be my mortal life.

If you brought me this far, If you brought me this far.

Where ever you lead me. I know u won't leave me.

Where ever you call me you will make a way.

Where ever we're going, I will be holding to the promise you have made. You will make a way, you will make a way.

When I'm in the valley you will be a comfort.

When I'm at the end of me I'll find you there.

When I'm in a battle you'll be my present peace cause you brought me this far yeah, you brought me this far." Autumn sings and I'm actually amazed..... she could be dying and she's singing!

I sob louder and louder.

How?

I sob to the point where I block all the sounds out and I'm just seeing.

Again, like in a movie.

The Paramedics put Autumn on the stretcher and give her medical care right away.

I see them put a breathing mask over her face and then they close the doors.

"Are you with her?" A paramedic asks

"Yeah?" I say confused

"You can come to the hospital if you please." The paramedic tells me

I nod and jump in the back of the ambulance.

I look over at Autumn and I can tell she's in a lot of pain and is fighting for her life.

I can see she's fighting with her self.

She's trying to stay here. But at the same time she's telling her self it's ok to let go.

I grab her hand and give her a look that says 'its ok to let go.'

I weakly smile at her.

We finally arrive at the hospital and everything is chaos after that.

Someone then tells me where to go to wait.

They start looking at her leg right away considering she lost a lot of blood.

I paise back and for for hours, days, nights, decades, centuries. I don't really know.

All I know is its take for what seems like an eternity.
