Police station

Adeline's pov

After what feels like the longest five minute car journey we finally arrived at what I used to call my home "Okay hun we're here, do u want me to come in with you?" She asks "no it's ok" I say quietly

whilst getting out of the car and making my way up to the rotting door it barley takes a push to open I step inside and really take in what this once was the once coffee brown sofa has multiple stains on it including my blood, the once clean white walls with family photos on is now broken frames and glass on the floor wholes in the wall and the paint that's chipping away at every second I slowly walk up the stairs into my so called bedroom which is just a dirty mattress on the floor in the corner

trying to distract my self I pick up my school bag since it's the only one I have and don't have a lot of stuff anyways I empty it and add my phone charger, my makeup to cover bruises some money I kept hidden in a bottom draw just in case I needed it, all my clothes which isn't many and shove my phone in my back pocket along with my headphones because I won't be able to make it a day with out music

Now there's two reasons I told marry to stay in the car, one because I don't want her to know what my living situation was like and I will do everything possible to make sure no one finds up and secondly my farther still has a stash of alcohol and cigarettes left

I quickly make my way to the kitchen shoving all the alcohol I can fit in my bag hidden under my clothes once that's sorted I start looking for the cigarettes I walk back upstairs to my father's room and look in his draw lucky me I find them but along with something else as well as a pocket knife I contemplate for a moment on what to do but my thoughts get interrupted by marry at my door "hun! We've got to be quick so we can get u settled"

I jumped at the sudden yelling and make a quick decision and shove it in my front pocket of my bag I mean you never know when u need this type of stuff u need to be prepared especially if I end up with someone worse then my father but the thought of that just makes my skin crawl I didn't think someone worse then John would be a thing

I'm now sat in the police station waiting in my usual set for the DNA test results it's been a good 45 minutes and I'm tired as shit but just as I'm about to lose my mind my favorite police officer comes in he always bailed me out of dumb shit I would do "David?" I question as today is usually his day off

"Adeline! What on earth did u do now" he says while chuckling and embracing me in a hug David was the only person I trusted although he never knew what my farther did but he knew we didn't have a good relationship and he was like a father figure to me

"no don't worry I didn't do anything this time" I answer

"Whatcha doing here then kiddo" he says confused whilst sitting down next to me

"Well um my farther died this morning and Im here to see if they can find any relatives, but I doubt it I am only child and my parents don't have siblings" I explain looking down

"Oh god kid I'm so sorry, but hey don't stress we'll figure it out" he says with a sorrow look on his face and embracing me in a side hug and only pulling away once we were interrupted by marry bursting through the doors

"HUNNY" she yells gasping for breath with whatever the news is she already looks more excited then me "we found ur brothers there more then happy to take u in and will be here tonight!"

"What!"

"What?"

Me and David say at the same time in complete shock we both know I don't have siblings
"You must have the wrong girl marry, Im Adeline remember and I'm an only child there's no way I could possibly have brothers" I explain
"Nope it's definitely you Adeline apparently you were separated when u were five you'll have to ask them tonight hunny they live in Italy so that's why there taking so long" she replies

"ITALY?" I shout with wide eyes "I'm moving to Italy? With brothers I never knew I had?" I question standing up and staring to pace around the room, David must have sensed my fear and stress he always knew how to calm my anxiety as he quickly stood up and pulled me to his chest "listen to my heart beat kid"

At this point I didn't even realize marry had left to sort some paper work for my brothers

My breathing starts to go back to its normal pace and i quietly thank David, god knows what I would do with out him he takes me to there little sofa area I used to crash on since the police here love me David gently passes me a blanket "here u go kiddo get some rest it's been a long day"
