Chapter 14

We arrived back in the Kingdom of Wolves, just outside the capital, where the Wolves were still fighting the Vampires and Demons. Upon us arriving, a shockwave shook the field in front of us. I hopped on Stryker's back, and he howled upon seeing the Vampires and Demons, them apparently being the ones who'd injured him and therefore turned him to trust his killer instinct and nothing else.

"Nick!" Jaxis exclaimed as he put down another Vampire, "Right on time! We're beginning to get overrun!"

"Not for long," I said, "Push back the Vampires! Destroy any that you can!"

The army charged forward, and the tide almost instantaneously shifted upon just the thirty-six of us joining the fray. From Elizabeth throwing people or impaling them with fallen branches via magic to me, Aurora, Troy, or Percy using our swords to cut down the foes we faced to Stryker simply swiping with massive claws, or taking massive bites out of Vampires, or disintegrating Demons in a single bite, it was clear that the tide had changed.

However, the tide came to a standstill.

Elanis appeared in front of Jalin, who Elanis engaged with immediately. Jalin was attempting to defend himself, but Elanis was beginning to overpower him after about a minute and a half. I jumped off Stryker's back and dashed over, interrupting the bout completely, and took to fighting Elanis myself.

"Aren't you forgetting something, Tyris?" Elanis asked with a grin.

"What are you going on about?" I asked.

"The Faeries?" he asked, his grin still wide.

"The Faeries are safe," I said, grinning myself now, "I stopped Stellaris' forces and sent them running. What you're missing is the massive battalion I'm sending to your capital as we speak! I'm merely a distraction for a larger picture!"

"Then why not lead your army?" Elanis asked.

"Because I know that Donner can take down any Vampire he wishes," I said, "and with you here, he'll have no reason to retreat or even fear defeat!"

Elanis' eyes narrowed as he jumped back.

"Vampires, Demons, fall back to the capital!" Elanis exclaimed, the Vampires and Demons running toward the trees at Elanis' order and individually disappearing with a snap! every time one reached the tree line.

Suddenly, as suddenly as Elanis' army had appeared, they were gone.

The others found their way over to me, Jaxis looking concerned.

"I heard you say Donner was leading a battalion to the Vampires' capital," Jaxis said, "but you never sent a battalion in that direction."

"Elanis doesn't know that yet," I replied with a grin, "as evil as he is, Elanis Summerset is prideful and very gullible when it comes to anything that could threaten his pride. Therefore, to hear that Donner, an older Human who's already been injured by him once, could possibly be invading his capital, which could lose him the war, insulted his pride and scared him into thinking he needed a defense."

"You sly dog," Troy said with a chuckle.

"So who's this big fellow?" Jaxis asked, gesturing to Stryker.

"This is Stryker," I said, "He's a wolf-dog that we saved over in Seryn's Kingdom. They had injured him and forced him to fight."

"That's despicable," Jaxis replied, his honestly biased compassion toward wolves and dogs showing, "It's a good thing you saved him."
