Five: The Night of the Comet

Elena P.O.V

Once I'm dressed, I pick up my diary and start writing.

Dear diary, this morning is different. I can feel a change. I don't regret the day before it begins and I know it's becuase of him. For the first time in a long time, I feel good. I bet I'll feel even better when I start dating him.

Stefan P.O.V

I wake up with a smile. I still can't believe that I get to see her again. As I hurry to get dressed and ready, I can't help but think "I'm so thankful my reason to live is back."

Phaedra P.O.V

I do a little twirl in front of the mirror. I feel giddy and I know it's because I get to see Stefan today. I look at the mirror, looking for anything wrong with my outfit. When I find none, I smile and start going downstairs.

As I go down I see my mom and Elena.
"Do I look adult? As in respectfully parental?" She asks as she fiddles with her outfit. "Depends on where you're going." I say, making them both turn to me. Elena rolls her eyes and looks back at mom. I scoff, I can't believe I wanted to keep trying with her.

Mom gives me a kiss on the forehead and tells me good morning before answering, "Jeremy's parent-teacher conference. Hair up or down?"

"Sexy stewardess." I say when she puts her hair up. "Boozy housewife." Elena says when she puts it down."

"Up it is. You're feisty today." Mom says to me. Before I could say anything, Elena jumps in. "I feel good, which is rare. So I've decided to go with it. Fly free, walk on the sunshine, and all that stuff."

I scoff again. How did I not notice she liked making things about her? Mom doesn't say anything to her and looks at me, wanting to know what I was going to say. "I'm doing a lot better. I woke up with a smile on my face, feeling excited for the day. I had a reason to get out of bed."

Mom gives me a teasing look and I try not to blush. I told her about Stefan and didn't stop talking about him until hours later. "That's good Phae. I'm happy for you." Me and mom share a smile.

Our moment was interrupted by Elena."Where is Jeremy?" She asks.  Me and mom share a look, before mom answers. "He left early. Something about getting to wood shop early to finish a birdhouse."

Elena scoffs, "There is no wood shop. I can't believe he lied. He's probably out doing drugs or hanging off of Vicki." Elena takes out her phone, most likely to leave Jeremy an angry voice-mail.

I roll my eyes at her before saying goodbye to mom and heading out the house.

At the police station

Jeremy stands in front of Sheriff Forbes, anxious. "I'd like to report something."

Mystic Falls High

"Originally discovered nearly 5 centuries ago, it hasn't been over Mystic Falls in over 145 years. Now, the comet will be its brightest right after dusk during tomorrow's celebration." Tanner drones on, not caring that his students weren't paying attention.

At least not until he saw Phaedra looking at the Salvatore kid. "Are we bothering you, Mr. Salvatore? Phaedra?"

As soon as Phaedra and Stefan drop their gazes, the bell rings.
