Past (Kings Landing) 1 year before the death of  Jon Aryn

Kings Landing was a possessive city, it beauty was unexplainable. When I had first arrived to the Capitol I was terrified, the people in the south were not like the people in the north. After spending so much time with the Northerners it felt like I fit in there, I was meant too be there. Being back in the South was unsettling, I didn't feel as safe anymore. I didn't have many friends here only Jon Arryn .

I looked around the throne room, it was Jon Arryn who sat on the Iron Throne, the king was nowhere in sight but everyone knew where he was. I looked over to Cersei Lannister, she was standing in the corner, glowing in her youth. I wasn't paying attention to what Jon was talking about or who he was talking too, that would get me in trouble when he quizzed me later that night during our study hour. But I couldn't pull my eyes from the sight of the Queen.

I envied Cersei. She was beautiful, witty, and above all, she had power. She exercised her Power well. She had control even if it wasn't she who sat on the Iron Throne. If anybody couldn't see that she was probably the smartest person in all of Westeros, they were idiots. Cersei was the kind of woman who got what she wanted when she wanted it, and everyone be damned if they didn't give it to her. Everyone but the King, who never gave her anything. I wasn't a fan of Robert. He might have been the King of the 7 Kingdoms, but he wasn't smart. True that the crown didn't feel threatened under his rule, and there hadn't been an actual war in a decade. But Robert had many faults, one being he was a drunken man who couldn't stay out of the brothels. He didn't even run the country it was all his hand, Jon Arynn, and even Jon was falling behind.

Jon was getting old. He was much older the Robert. But he knew how to the job he was given, and with his brilliance he taught me everything he knows. He told me his secrets, shared with me how he handles everything. It wasn't my family, or the Starks that shaped me into who I was but Jon. He took me in like a daughter,  helped me survive Royal Court, he sponsored everything I did. Sometimes, he would talk of the Vale and how he could see me one day taking it all over. That wasn't true, though he had a son.

Other than the Capitol being intimidating and lonely, I loved it here. The gardens reminded me of the ones in Dorne, it made me feel like I was back home. Father wrote me often, mostly too make sure the Lannister's weren't tormenting me. The truth was I was only noticed by one Lannister, Tyrion. Tyrion and I had formed a bond while I was in the Capitol. When he wasn't busy drinking or in brothels, he spent with me talking in the Gardens. We often talked of the History of the Realm, the Targaryen Dynasty and the fall of their rule. Tyrion felt normal too me, he was kind, and funny we would often dance at balls which would earn several looks from everyone around us.

"Well Rhelia, I hope your ready for you next lesson. I think you'll find it more exciting than yesterdays" I looked away from the water and too Jon who had just walked into the Study. Yesterdays session was more about the smaller castles in the North, it wasn't exciting as there wasn't much too it
