Lily Mae

"This is where you're hiding at." Wesley the youngest of my brothers at twenty-seven, three years older than me stands resting against the stable door, his arms crossed in front of his chest. His dirty-blonde hair clearly needs a trim as it falls in his face, he blows out to rid it from his baby blue eyes.

"Wesley," breathes out my bestie Harley and starts to twirl her hand in her hair. I look from her to my brother and back again, is she flirting with him? It's so darn cute. Wesley blushes, that is even cuter. Yeah, he likes her too. Why they haven't gotten together yet is beyond me.

"Harley," he nods and puts a finger to his tan cowboy hat.

"What's up, bro?" I ask.

"I was wondering where my kid sister had gotten to but I can see you are both starting on the old vino. We're all going over to Millers for a drink thought you might like to join us, you know your first night back and all. Should be a hoot and I can beat your ass at pool." He grins, Wesley is a good looking guy, it's apparent why the girls always chase after him but shy he is, always has been and always will be.

"Beat me at pool, since when? You know I beat you hands down all the time, Wes. Are the others going?"

"Yep, Colt is going to head over with Katie, mom and dad are looking after baby Luka, and Hendricks is meeting us there too. If you like I can drive you two, since you've already had some wine."

"Sure, we'll come, it sounds like fun. Let me get changed."

"Changed? Why? You look fine in what you're wearing."

"No, I want to get changed. I can't go out in these old jeans and top."

He raises his eyebrows and shrugs his shoulders, Harley is being quiet. I glance at her. "Are you going to change or you going as is?" I ask her.

"I could get changed, let me borrow something of yours, save me going back to the cabin and faffing."

"Perfect. Wes, we'll be ready in say thirty minutes, okay?"

"Alrighty, but no longer, it's been a long week and we all need to let off some steam and I will whoop your ass, Lily Mae." He chuckles as he walks away and I catch my bestie checking out his ass.

"You should just tell him how you feel, Harley. I can tell he likes you too."

"No way, he's always giving me the cold shoulder and saying snarky shit to me, I'm telling you, your brother doesn't feel the same way." I think on that because seeing my brother blushing at the sight of Harley tells me otherwise.

"Personally, I think he's playing it down. You know that sometimes guys and gals can be real dumb and be hostile or say snarky, bratty shit to one another when deep down they're nuts about each other, right?"

"Maybe." She shrugs her shoulders and loops her arm through mine. "C'mon pool star let's go get changed and show them how to play a game of pool." It has been known for Harley and I to win a few games, especially when the guys have had a bit too much beer and get sloppy. We've been playing ever since our daddies could give us a pool cue and since we have a table at the big ranch house, I've had my fair share of practice over the years. Since I've worked in the city not so much, however and maybe I'm all a bit rusty.

Thirty minutes on the button later, we're changed. I have pulled my hair into a messy bun, opted for black smart jeans, booties with a killer heel and a beautiful bamboo silk, moss green shirt that I've left open a few buttons, underneath I wear a black camisole top. I have never been nor ever will be a girl who likes to show her girls off. Not that there's anything wrong with that and mine are perfectly okay, well least ways they are the only pair I have so I have to like them; only I can't stand guys checking them out and I learnt growing up and in High School to put my ladies away. The extra attention I certainly do not need.
