After discovering that the Geoglyphs that had recently appeared all over the kingdom contained memories of Hyrule's ancient times. Hayden surveyed the kingdom, determined to find out what had become of Zelda. He searched relentlessly for every geoglyph, every location of every dragon tear. And he finally learned everything that had happened.

Zelda's arrival in ancient Hyrule.

Her friendship with the kingdom's first monarchs.

Ganondorf's transformation into the Demon King.

The course of the Seal War....

And... finally...

That... to repair the mastersword...

Zelda had swallowed her Occult Stone... and transformed into a Dragon... to bathe her in its light...

After seeing this last memory... Hayden looked up to see the Dragon he loved had become... the Sword of Legend stuck in his skull....

At that very moment Hayden's world collapsed... his reason for fighting was no more.

His whole body shook... his knees buckled... he was on his knees, still trembling as moans of sadness escaped from his mouth, which he did his best to keep shut...

Tears finally began to flow...

And finally... he broke down...

"Wh... why...?" he whispered... " Why?!"

He began to pound his right fist into the crevasse formed by the last dragon tear... Zelda's last tear...

"WHY? !!!! WHY?!!!" He screamed in despair repeatedly, continuing to hit the crevasse harder and harder as the whole kingdom could hear his lament... Absolutely everyone...

-----------------------------------

At the Zora estate, Sidon hugged Yona as he felt his friend's despair.

-----------------------------------

In the piaf village, Teba, Saki and Tulin bowed their heads, feeling the grief of the man who had saved their village earlier.

-----------------------------------

In the Goron village, Yunobo also bowed his head.

-----------------------------------

At the Guerudo City, Riju fell to her knees... Hayden's cries of distress tore her apart, even though she knew it would never be reciprocated... she loved him. And to hear him so inconsolable broke her heart.

-----------------------------------

The rest of the kingdom, from those who didn't know Hayden to those he helped in his quest with small gestures, could only listen to him cry out his grief.

-----------------------------------

And finally... Zelda herself, who could do nothing but continue flying, protecting the Sword of Legend. Even if in taking this form she had lost sight of who she was, listening to her lover's cries was a torment... But she had to endure it until he came to claim the sword...

Then finally his screams died down...

"Why... did you do it..."

This whisper made Zelda's eyes widen... Hayden's voice was weak... moaning... filled with his grief...

"All I wanted... was for us to live together... Why did you do this... instead of looking for another solution... Why... why won't this world let you live in peace... happy... why... why can't we be happy..." Hayden finally murmured... when suddenly his grief was replaced by something else...

Something even darker than anyone could have imagined... a hatred fiercer than that of Demise's reincarnations throughout Hyrule's history, no matter the timeline.

He set off for the Prelude Plateau, to a place known to no one but himself... where a Sheikah sanctuary stood... the last active one. He entered, and inside was a veritable weapons warehouse.

All the weapons Hayden had found on his journey, from his awakening at the Resurrection Shrine to his Ganon battle. After reuniting with Zelda, he had locked up all his weapons, with the exception of the Legend Sword.

At first, he hadn't intended to use it, feeling too weak to use it again.

But now he didn't care...

He armed himself with the Twilight Bow, the Hylian Shield, and his old sword from 100 years ago: the White Divine Sword.

-----------------------------------

Then, with determination, he spent the next few days searching for the slightest sanctuary. Whether outside, in a cave, underground or in the air, not a single one resisted him.

Those who saw him on his journey thought they were looking at a completely different person. His eyes were almost empty. Only determination and rage were still visible. Those who knew what was going on could only think one thing: the man responsible for the Princess's disappearance had indirectly created a worthy adversary. An adversary determined to kill him.

By the time he had overcome the last shrine, he found himself on a floating islet, awaiting the passage of the Dragon... of Zelda...

When he heard her coming, he jumped off the islet without a glance, landing directly in her mane. It was still in the shape of her haircut.

Smelling her perfume again... smelling her hair... it made that state of rage that had seized him disappear.

"I..." he began, unable to find the words, until grief overcame him again. "I'm sorry..."

His tears wet Zelda's mane as he cuddled up to her. This hatred that everyone thought was directed at the person responsible for the calamity that struck Hyrule, was in fact directed at himself...

"I'm sorry I was so weak... that I couldn't protect you... that I wasn't with you then... that I didn't..."

He couldn't find the words... his disgust at having, in his eyes, let Zelda down to the point where she had to give up her humanity, was far too strong to describe.

"Not to have caught your hand at that moment..."

Doing all he could to soothe his grief, he stood up and walked over to Zelda's head, where the Sword of Legend lay.

"You'll probably be in pain right now... I'm really sorry about that. But you have to... to protect your people... to kill that son of a bitch." He said, finally grasping the hilt of the sword.

This made the dragon react, and he began to struggle, going in all directions. Hayden resisted with all his might, determined to withdraw the sword and finally gain the necessary power against Ganondorf.

He repeatedly apologized, knowing that she was suffering from his attempts to withdraw the sword. But after a while he had had enough and simply used the sword to hold onto the dragon, onto Zelda.

This went on for a few minutes. Hayden eventually closed his eyes, praying that it would all stop, the prospect of hurting the woman he loved being too much for him.

But finally, when he opened his eyes, he could see that he was in an entirely white place, with Zelda in front of him, her hands on the one holding the sword.

"I love you..." She smiled before disappearing.

Then the white of the place blinded him for a moment, bringing him back to the dragon Zelda's head, her hair releasing the sword. He drew it slowly and raised the blade, holding it in front of his face as he lowered his head, eyes closed.

"I'm going to kill that bastard, Zelda. He said in a determined tone, as unbeknownst to him, a symbol similar to the triforce appeared on the dowel of his hand. But it was different from the other triforce seals that had appeared in the games. This time, the triforce's normally empty slot was filled by a golden triangle...

"...I promise."
