"It's morning already", Sophia said as she sat on her bed looking around her room with a smile on her face. She fondly reminisced the years she had spent in the house, especially her favorite part- her room.
Nineteen year old Sophia finally got admitted into her dream university. It was move-in day and everyone in Sophia's house was prepared, waiting for her in the living room. "Sophie, come down already. We don't have all the time in the world", Mrs. Thompson, Sophia's mother yelled.
"Don't mind her mom. She's acting like she's permanently leaving the house", Sam, Sophia's younger brother said.
"I heard that. You're just jealous and pretending like you don't miss me already", Sophia replied Sam as she walked down the stairs with few of her luggages. The three of them laughed and continued bickering till they reached the car. Mr. Thompson was getting it ready for the journey. It took five minutes to arrange the luggages. Shortly after, they said a short prayer and began the journey.Sophia was very excited about university. She was immersed in her thoughts and was already picturing how her life in uni would be. "Ah, why did I remember this?", she asked herself. She had remembered an encounter she had with someone few days back. It completely ruined her mood.
Two days prior to the move-in day, Sophia was working at a coffee shop. It was actually her last day of work. She had her usual bright smile as she served customers their orders cheerfully. She continued her shift happily as it was her last day of work before going to uni.
A friend group of three walked into the shop and sat down. Not long after, a boy named Alvin walked in and sat down too as he waited for someone. Among the friend group of three, one sighted Sophia where she stood attending to a customer. He turned to his friends and whispered "she's hot. I know what to do." "Bro, we're in public. Don't", one of his friends told him as he smiled creepily. He took out a pen and a piece of paper and quickly wrote out something. He called one of the employees passing by, gave her the paper to give to Sophia.
Bella who was in a hurry to attend to something outside the shop, hurriedly glanced at the colour of his shirt. She quickly went to Sophia, handed the paper to her and told her it was from a guy wearing a green shirt sitting by the left side. She then ran out to attend to something.
Sophia opened the paper and was disgusted and annoyed by what was written. It read "How much for one night, baby?". She looked to the left side and saw a guy wearing a green cap and confronted him. Apparently, Bella had made a mistake. The guy who wrote it was sitting at the right side. Sophia saw Alvin's green cap and thought he was the one Bella was referring to. She confronted Alvin, tore the paper and threw it at him.
"Bold of you to even do that here. Or you thought I would not react cause I work here?", Sophia yelled at Alvin. Alvin was too stunned to speak cause he was genuinely confused.
"If this is how you go about writing foolish things to girls, then you must be ashamed of yourself. If you're not going to order anything, then leave, you creep!", Sophia kept yelling. At this point, Alvin got angry and didn't even bother asking her why she was shouting. "Something is definitely wrong with you. Are you out of your mind? Is this how you treat customers here, you silly girl?", Alvin yelled back at her. At this point, they started exchanging words. The friend group of three saw what had happened and knew that it was what the guy on green shirt had caused. They quietly left the shop and started laughing outside. Meanwhile, two of the employees rushed to Sophia and tried to calm her down. They apologized to Alvin even though they didn't know what caused the altercation. Alvin angrily left the coffee shop.
"Sophia, calm down. You shouldn't have done that", one of the employees said to Sophia.
"I did what I had to do. It's my last day anyways", Sophia replied as she drank a bottle of chilled water."Well, today is going to be a great day. No bad luck", Sophia assured herself as the journey continued. It took about two hours until they arrived at their destination. "Wow, so beautiful", said Sophia as they drove into the university. Everywhere was so busy as other students were moving in too. They helped Sophia carry her things to the dorm. She arrived before her roommate. After everything, she hugged her family and was about shedding tears when Sam said that she should save it for her wedding day. It made everyone laugh so hard.
Mr. and Mrs. Thompson gave her some advice, mainly repeating what they had already told her.
"I think I'm missing someone already", Sam said calmly, "Brie",. Everyone started laughing because Brie was the name of his goldfish.
"Just leave Sam, you're the worst", Sophia told him with a smile on her face. The family chatted for a while and then bade her goodbye.
Sophia started unpacking and arranging her stuff.
