Chris
I woke up long before my alarm, strangely. It was 05:30 am. Maybe I was just really happy to see Keith at school so I didn't sleep much. He was my new and first real friend in high school. I was hungry, so I went to the kitchen to eat something. While I was going down the stairs, I heard a familiar voice behind me.
- "Chris? What are you doing?"
It was just Amelia, my little sister, who was looking at me with her big green eyes, the same as mine after all. I took her by her neck with my hand to bring her closer to me and kiss her on the forehead.
- "Why are you following me Mia?" I said smiling. "You should be in your bed right now."
- "I heard a noise and you know I wake up very easily. You know, I'm hungry, can you prepare something for me please?"
- "Do you promise that you're going to bed after that?"
- "Yeah" she smiled.
Before we walked to the kitchen together, I ruffled her hair and she muttered while smiling "Stop it". Once in the kitchen, I started preparing some milk and cereals for her and she sat on one of the chairs.
- "So", she started, "what did you do yesterday? Remember I wasn't here when you came home."
- "Well, I have a new friend." I said laying my back on the fridge.
- "Oh, what is his name? Just to know of course, I'm really curious about your friends."
- "Keith." I said while giving her a mug of milk with a spoon and with the cereals.
- "Keith?" She asked smiling, "Like Keith Richards from the "Rolling Stones"?"
- "Yeah that's right."
- "Does he play the guitar too?"
- "Yes, he does."
My sister laughed slightly and while mixing the milk and the cereal. Then she looked again at me and said:
- "Ok I promise this is the last question."
- "Ugh," I said being falsely exasperated, "Go on."
- "What is his last name?"
- "Sergeant."
Amelia let her spoon fall as her eyes were completely opened. As she leaned back to pick it up she said:
- "Well Chris, you really know how to choose your friends. I hope you're not his friend just for his money because if I'm not wrong, the Sergeant family has a lot of power in California and probably in the whole United States."
- "Are you joking Mia?" I said feeling a bit disappointed by my sister's answer. "I'm not his friend just for this."
Mia looked and me with her stunning green eyes and bit her tongue before saying "sure" in a strange way.
- "I hate when you do this, so stop it right now."
My sister looked down on the ground and, knowing I said something a bit hard, I walk next to her and hugged her. As I laid my head on hers, I put my arms around her shoulders and she put hers around my waist. After kissing her gently on the forehead I said:
- "Mia I'm sorry, I didn't want to..."
- "It's fine Chris," interrupted my sister, "you know Keith's very lucky to have a friend like you."
- "Thanks sis," I said, playing with one of her locks, "but don't talk to me like that ever again, ok?"
- "Sure! I'm going to bed now so, I'll see you later."
