Shaman Chay
Kinn is invited to Porsche's house to meet his brother Chay. Kinn is so excited because it marks a new level of their relationship. "But... I must warn you, there's something about Chay."
Kinn frowns when he sees the serious expression on Porsche's face. "What?"
"Chay can see dead people. Spirits. He got that from our father."
Kinn laughs, thinking that Porsche must've been joking.
But when he meets Chay at the front door of the house, he is stunned when the younger says in a cold chilling voice, "You can't come. You are not welcome here."
"What?" he whispers.
"Not you, him," he nudges to an empty spot behind Kinn. "You're not going to defile my house, my temple. I forbid you, filth."
A man is indeed behind Kinn, making an unpleasant smile at Chay, who in return looks at him with his chin rising high, so different from the demeanor of a boy that Porsche described.
The man opens his bloody teeth, half his head is bashed, and he's speaking like a broken wind. Words are passing, but not through air.
Unpleasant, but nothing he hasn't seen before.
"Ever felt your whole body is heavy, Khun Kinn? Like you have no power to even get up from bed. Ever felt someone grabbing your ankles, making your steps heavier?"
"How did you ...?"
Chay speaks to the spirit through his mind, making a commanding voice strong enough that it makes the spirit howl in pain.
'Introduce yourself!'
"The name was Len. 160-something cm. Rather skinny. He said he was killed because his brother had a debt with your family, not him. Not your killing as he's rather old. Been roaming for decades."
"You gotta be kidding ..."
Chay looks at Kinn, not surprised. Not many people appreciate his ... talent. "Fine. I'll let him come near you then."
Len smiled at Chay, happy to be allowed near Kinn. Chay can feel sadness and become loathe and angry. It bitters the air like a fume from a burning building.
He can't get near Kinn enough because of Porsche. Something he hates. He wants to torture Kinn and his whole family of damned people.
He is willing to roam the earth forever for this. He must succeed.
"You can feel the coldness. Your breath will make clouds, heavier when he is nearer," Chay says as he was attending to him intensely. He doesn't want Kinn to get hurt, for Porsche's sake.
His stupid brother just had to choose someone with black blood in his veins. This will take time to clean and a world of effort.
Kinn indeed feels colder. The feeling is unpleasant. It's like someone dumps ice water in your stomach.
Chay smiles when he sees Kinn's expression.
That's right. In a world where a gun has no use, killing someone is rather easy.
"No, it isn't, Khun Kinn. When they touch, just one finger. I'll allow you just one finger," Len glides his finger on the smooth surface of Kinn's neck. "You'll feel as if someone just rubs a fish on you or hot like a life coal. Sometimes you can smell them too. He," he points to Len, "smells like a rotten pickles. Very sour."
Kinn can smell it too. Is it because Chay describes it for him?
"Hey, no!" Chay bites his finger and throws his blood in Len's direction, making the ghost toss behind meters away.
'Ooohhhh.... You're good Khun Chay... Is it because your grandmother is behind you?'
"I can do well on my own."
'My master doesn't think so. My master knew when he saw Porsche. Guarded, he was. Is it you?'
Chay tilts his head. Master? He doesn't work alone? Is someone or something behind him?
Black magic?
He scans Kinn thoroughly and finds two points of the black magic in Kinn's body. Heavy ones, indeed. It's a professional job and whoever sent it must have a high level.
Chay brushes both sides of Kinn's shoulder and both sides of his legs nonchalantly as he murmurs his chant. This will have to do for the moment as Kinn is a non-believer.
Len shrieks in anger as he sees it. Chay pays no mind.
'So you're not with him because you have grudges against him?' he asks Len again.
'Oohhh I do.. That's why I accept this mission. My master said it's time to make The Theerapanyakuls pay.'
'Who sent you?'
Len laughs. 'Not gonna tell...' he says in a sing-a-song manner.
"Then you are no use to me," Chay says in a cold whisper. He waves his hand and watches Len burn to nothingness in seconds.
Chay looks at Kinn, trying to dig something. Too much blood. Too many mistakes.
He changes his direction to his brother. "You want to be with him and still be alive? Make merits every day and do chanting before bed and when you wake up. I'll send you the script," he says as he walks to the inside of the house.
He must make preparations to meet this master ... For the sake of Porsche.
