Jack J's P.O.V.

I got out of the hospital and went back in normal life, in the asylum. The great thing is I wasn't walking back in there alone, right behind me was Ethan.

We had lunch and we were talking, more like writing or signing. Then the douchebag knocked me out, came over here and pulled Ethan out his seat. His fragile body try to fight back, but it was no use. I ran to help, but two boys grabbed up to me and made me watch him getting beaten up. I hear him scream in pain when the bully hits him. I try to break free, but I couldn't. I started to cry because I couldn't do anything to save him.

Something happened inside of me, like a tiny flame, begins to grow inside of me. I elbowed one kid in the stomach and he fell to the ground. The other kid tried to punch me, but I dodge it and kick him in the stomach. He fell to the ground too. I pushed off the bully off and picked up Ethan.

"Where you going, Gaylord?" He said laughing.

"You're right I am the Gaylord," I said with confidence,"And you're just a little peasant!"

Then I took off running with Ethan in my arms. We went into the corner of the lunch room where nobody could see us.

"Ethan," I whispered.

I forgot he was deaf. So I shook him, then he shot up and looked at me. His bright blue eyes were grey, like they were sad.

'It's okay, you're safe,' I signed.

'Thank you, J,'he signed back.

'Did you give me a sign?' I signed.

'Yes,' he signed and smiled.

I smiled and he hugged me tight. That's a big deal because you only give a person a sign to a person that is really close to you.

It was sad to see Ethan in pain. He had a black eyes, bruises all over his face, a bloody lip, and he was a little dirty.

'Let's get you cleaned you,' I signed.

He shook his head and tried to get up. He was about to fall but I caught him. Then I grabbed his hand to help him up, I put his arm around my shoulder and walked him to the nearest guard.

"Excuse me," I said getting a guard's attention.

"Yes, what seem to be the problem?" He asked politely.

"Is there a first aid kit?" I asked nicely.

"Sure, follow me," the guard said.

We followed him to this room, it was the hospital. I sit him down on the bed, and a nurse came in with the first aid kit. She first cleaned the cuts and Ethan would squeeze my thigh when it hurts. When it was done, Ethan turned to me and smiled.

'How do I look?' He signed.

'Like a mummy,' I signed laughing.

Even thought, he only had two bandages on. Ethan looks upset, he kind of looks like he wants to tell me something.

'Are you okay?' I signed.

He shook his head.

'Yes, I am fine,' he signed.

'You do not look fine,' I signed moving closer to him.

'Will you ever leave me?' He asked.

'No, never, why?' I asked.

'Because without you, I feel like I am in this dark hole that I can never get out of,' he signed tearing up,' Then you come along and pulled me out of this dark, depressing hole I have been in so long and I can not thank you enough.'

He then hugged me tight and cried his eyes. He then pulled away and just stared at me.

'Do you know what I want out of anything else in the world?' He signed looking down.

'What?' I asked.

'Guess,' he signed smiling.

'To be a millionaire,' I signed smiling.

'No, a little smaller,' he smiled.

'A puppy,' I signed.

'Nope, something you use everyday,' he signed.

'Freedom,' I signed confused.

'No,' he signed astonished that I didn't get it.

'What is it?' I signed eager to know what it is.

'The ability to hear,' he signed looking down.

'Oh,' I signed face palming my forehead.

'I just want to be able to hear my voice, the way I laugh, the way I cry. I also want to hear what the bullies are saying, so I do not have to guess what they are saying. Finally, I want to hear how you speak, how you laugh, how you talk,' he signed.

'Aww, Ethan,' I signed.

His eyes widen when I signed E.

'I want that too,' I signed feeling bad.

Then I got an idea.

'Tell you what, when I get famous, I'll buy you hearing aids, so you can hear me play at my first concert,' I signed.

'You would do that,' he signed with a big smile on his face.

'I promise,' I said putting my right hand up.

'How do I know you are not lying?' He signed giving me a look.

I put my right pinky up.

'Pinky swear,' I signed.

'You still do that,' he signed giggling.

'I only do it when I truly promise,' I signed.

'Aright, pinky swear,' he said wrapping his pinky around mine.

We walked out of there. There were guards walking around with boys in between them. I see Ethan getting nervous, so I gently grabbed his hand. He looked over at me and smile. The same guard walked us back into our rooms. Ethan's floor is different from mine we couldn't walk together for long. I signed him that I would see him tomorrow.

The next day, I woke up a little earlier then usual. Since I had a whole bunch of energy, I started doing push ups. Then the guard came in and we walked to the cafeteria. I saw Ethan and hugged him. When bullies came near us, they saw me and ran away. I smirked and kept eating my food. Then Ethan took me to a room where nobody could see us.

'Why am I in here?' I asked.

'There are something I need to tell you,' he said looking down.

'What is wrong, Ethan?'I asked.

He blushes.

'I am... gay,' he said looking up.

I was astonished, I didn't know what to do or sign.

'It's okay, Ethan,'I signed,' I am proud of you.'

He smiled faintly and I hugged him. We were still in each other's arms. He leaned in and kissed me.
