The Unlikely Pair

Chapter 15

Recap: He smiled faintly and I hugged him. We were still in each other's arms. He leaned in and kissed me.

Jack J's P.O.V.

I backed up from him and he looked at me with a sad look.

'Why did you do that?' I asked signing.

He begin to tear up.

'I was at my weak point,'he signed crying,'I just could not help myself.'

I sat there, speechless. I didn't know what to think, it all happened in an instant. I snapped back into reality when I heard Ethan run out of the room. I got up and ran after him.

I see him run into his room and slammed the door. I looked into a little window and see him writing something on the padded cell. In big letter he wrote:

Gay is a disease that can not be cured

I see him cry before writing something else.

I have been infected

I see him unzip his clothes and in the waistband of his underwear was a knife. Not a little butter knife, but a blade.

"No, not him,"I though to myself.

I ran in, trying to grab the knife away from Ethan. He turned around and put the knife to his heart.

'Ethan, give me the knife,'I sign.

He shook his head.

"Please do not do this," I signed.

He pick up a notebook and turned it towards me.

It's the only way I can cure myself from this disease. Don't you get it, I'm a mistake that needs to be erased.

I walk closer, he moves the blade to his head. Tears are steaming down his cheeks.

'Ethan you are not a mistake, you are not infected by this disease you say, you are keeping your true self locked up in chain and its begging to be set free, I can't make you get better, you have to want to get better,' I signed.

He shook his head and cried again. He wrote something in the notebook.

You don't get it.

'But I do, I use to close people off like my family, my siblings, and my best friend Jack, but then I realize that I need to forget about the bad times and unlock this thing I had inside of me for so long, this invisible rainbow of what I am, and what I am is gay,' I signed,'I'm tired of pretending that I'm not this, its had, is, and always will be apart of me.'

Ethan looked down at the floor and looked back up at me.

'Come on, Ethan, embrace your invisible rainbow,'I signed smiling.

He shook his head and was about to put the blade in his head, but he stop a few centimeters from his head and dropped it. He ran to me and hugged me tight. I can feel his heart pounding, and the wetness of my shoulder from him crying.

When we let go, I took the knife and threw it away. I am back in the room and I see a guard in his room. He turns to me and gives me a look.

"Did you try to hurt him?" He yelled backing me into a corner.

"What, no!" I yelled in his face.

"Then why did I see you with a knife?" He said pinning my to the wall.
