It was a dark, stormy night. Naberius Kalego, teacher at Babyls, was getting ready for the familiar summon. While doing so he looked at the school's newspaper or more precisely at the picture of the honor student holding Asmodeus in a german suplex. "Today the first years will perform the ritual to summon their familiars. Better for you to be prepared for this, Y/n."

Speaking of the girl she just woke up startled from her nightmare. Breathing heavily from reliving the memory of her parent's last moments she clenched her fists tightly. Suddenly the door to her room opened making her look up to see Opera entering. "Good morning, Y/n."

The girl answered thankful for the distraction. "Good morning, big brother." She then remembered yesterday's events. "Where is grandpa? I was sure he would be barging in first thing in the morning in hopes of me giving him attention."

The red-haired's ears perked up. "Since you ignored him the rest of the day he left early to be a responsible adult. Not sure what he meant with that." The h/c looked at them confused. "I came to tell you breakfast is ready. Once you're done getting ready come down to eat it. You might need all the energy you can get."

Nodding she replied. "Knowing him you are right. Whatever he meant with that, chances are high it turns into a disaster for me."

While Opera left to give her privacy the human did her morning routine before joining him at the table and eating breakfast. Afterwards she left to go to school with the redhead accompanying her to ensure she didn't get lost. She had a horrible sense of direction after all. On their way they saw the other demons flying above their heads and singing the school song much to her dismay. Once they are at the gates Opera wished her good luck before going back home and y/n walked through the gates towards school. She spotted the familiar pinkette and made her way towards him smiling. The mentioned demon noticed her and beamed at her enthusiastically. "Good morning, Y/n-sama! I've been waiting for you for six hours and six minutes."

"Good morning, Asmo...wait, did you just say you have been waiting for over six hours?!" She asked in shock and worried for his well-being. "You don't have to do that Asmodeus! More importantly, you need to sleep aswell!"

He looked at you with loving eyes. "You don't have to worry about me, my dear. Just being with you gives me more than enough energy for the day." The girl blushed at his reply. "You once said, you would only call me Azz if I gave you a nickname. Do pet names count aswell?"

Seeing his hopeful expression she couldn't deny his request. "Sure, Azz." At this he perked right up happy to hear the nickname from her. He wanted to ask her about carrying her bag but she beat him to it. "And no, you don't have to carry my bag. I'm fine."

You walked together with Asmodeus on the school grounds hearing everyone talking.
"Hey, that's the honor student." "Did you see the paper?" "She made the head of class her servant." "Apparently that was the second time she beat him." "Really?! That explains why Asmodeus got angry at the demon for bad-mouthing her."

She sighed internally. Seemed like her plan to not stand out was not an option anymore. To distract herself she turned to her friend. "What are we going to do today, Azz?"

His face brightened upon hearing the nickname. "First of all 163 first years are going to be divided in different groups and we all will prepare until the official classes start. It can't happen all at once. Luckily we both are in the same group so you can count on me to help you with anything you want sweetheart." Blushing at the nickname she nodded at him in understanding. "Today we will be doing the familiar summoning ritual and are on our way to the familiar hall."

The girl looked at him confused while he held out his hand to help her up the stairs. She took it without much though due to being too focused on the conversation. "Familiars? Are those the magical beasts Opera told me about?"
