The next morning Sirius woke up to familiar soft voices and opened his eyes to see Remus and James sitting by the bed talking to one another quietly, stopping when they saw Sirius awake.
Remus hugged Sirius tightly as James rubbed his back, both knowing that Sirius' family was definitely not going to accept him home after this.
"If you want, you're always welcome at my place," James told Sirius who had a couple of tears streaming down his face now. Sirius nodded in reply and brought his knees up to his chest.
As much as Sirius felt the need to finally let go and let someone take care of him, he didn't want to be little. He didn't want to need someone.
"James and I actually got classified as caregivers, so we're always an option if you want," Remus said with a small smile, "I actually wouldn't mind taking care of you," he finished speaking with a chuckle.
Sirius took a deep breath before speaking quickly, "IdontwanttochoosebetweenyoubothbecauseImafraidyoullhatemeifIdontchooseyou!"
James chuckled nervously, obviously not understanding what Sirius said. "I'm sorry Sirius, but could you say that again, a little slower this time?"
"I- I don't want to choose between you both because I'm afraid you'll hate me if I don't choose you," Sirius spoke slowly.
"You don't have to choose between us, you can have us both," Remus offered as he grabbed Sirius' hands.
Sirius looked up letting Remus hold his hands, the touch comforting. Remus smiled down at Sirius and went to tell Madame Pomfrey the news to which she was delighted.
"Now, you both know that a little is a huge responsibility, Sirius and his safety will have to be your number one priority from now on," Madame Pomfrey lectured.
"Yes ma'am, we are quite aware of the task we are taking on and promise to treat Sirius with the utmost respect, and to make sure he is safe," James answered.
"He is in good hands," Remus said while smiling.
"I have no doubts," Madame Pomfrey replied before assigning James and Remus as Sirius' caregivers.
