Friday

Avery's POV

I'd finally turned 16 yesterday but my dad says it's probably best to just wait until I'm 17 for my permit thing so he wouldn't have to bother riding with me.

It's also the last day of the week! I'd made it all the way to lunch time at school when Ashton confronted me, "Hey Aves..." he looked sad. "Yeah?" I asked worried. "I think it may be best if we don't have any contact. I don't really think this friendship is working for me-" I nod and just walk away leaving him upset. Because I was beyond furious and knew exactly why he did it. I avoided everybody for the rest of the day except Callie.

-

I pulled out my phone while walking through my front door. I compose a message to the contact named: Luke. Still to this day I have no idea how I have his number but it did come in handy right now.

A- what the fuck did you do?
L- what do you mean?
A- don't play dumb. I know you're the one who told Ashton to stop being my friend.
L- your point?
A- why would you do that
L- I guess you'll never know
A- fuck off, Luke

-

A- Mikey, can I come over?
M- sure dude! What's wrong?
A- thanks man. I'll explain when I get there

-

I rang the doorbell to Michael's house and was greeted by his mum. "Hello, Avery!" I smiled, saying hello and made my way to Mike's room, knocking on the door. He opened it and hugged me tightly. "Well jeez what was that for?" I laughed. "I-I uh know you're kinda upset." He said nervously. "Yeah I am, here sit." I sat on his bed and felt the mattress sink in. I noticed him sat next to me, instead of in front.

I told Michael all about how Luke had been telling me to stay away from Ashton and how he told Ash to cut our connection.

Me and Ash were getting along just fine and he seemed super nice. I don't understand why Luke felt the need to control the friends I have. I mean c'mon Luke hates me and I hate him. Hate is a strong word but after just one year of being called a whore or slut from Luke, made me loose any nice thoughts I had of him.

"Averyyyy?" Michael was waving his hand in front of my face. "What I was saying is, maybe it's better if you don't talk to Ashton." I sigh "Not you too, Mikey! What's the big deal about him? Why don't you guys want me around him?" Realization hit Michael. "I gotta go, Aves." He said standing up very quickly. "Bye Michael." I said a little disappointed and escorted myself out of his house.

Texts with Ash

Aves- what did Luke say to you?
Ash- who is this?
Aves- Avery. Now answer the question.
Ash- to stop talking to you
Aves- did he threaten you?
Ash- Avery...
Aves- Just. Tell. Me.
Ash- he said if he saw me with you or talking to you that he'd beat the shit out of me. And he actually will.

What the hell. Why would Luke do that. I couldn't even explain ny thoughts about this. Of course I can't talk to Ashton because I don't want him getting beat up. But I needed answers, from Luke but I know he won't tell me anything.

The next morning

Avery's POV

I woke up to a figure in my bean bag chair. "What the fuuuck!" I yelled but it turned and the lights hit her face to reveal only Callie. She was laughing so hard that she started literally rolling on the floor.

"Get dressed girl. We're gonna hang with Mikey today." She said excitedly so I went and hopped into the shower. Bad idea. I always think pretty deep in there and this was not the time. Everything from this past week flooded back through my mind. I tried to block it out but they overpowered my brain.

I stepped out of the warm water, dried off then got dressed. I put on some black skinny jeans that were riped at the knees, my black vans, and a grey Good Charlotte t-shirt with a black jacket on top of it.

Callie was wearing dark blue skinny jeans, black converse and my black Green Day tank top. It's a good thing we dress similar and wear the same size so we can steal each other's clothes.

We were about to leave but there was a knock on my balcony door, which is weird because the only way you can get up there is to climb. I pushed back the curtains and Michael stood there waving. I swear this kid does stupid things. I opened the door and let him in, "Mike you know you can come through the front door, right?" We all laughed and he just shook his head shaming himself which made us all laugh more.

-

He drove us to the pier, one of my favorite places! Luckily the fair was open so you know we took advantage of that. We all got cotton candy and some other snacks before going to ride some rides.

Somehow we let Michael drag us on the biggest roller coaster there. Each car had four seats, two in the front and two in the back. Callie sat with some cute guy, while Michael sat with me, behind them. I'm terrified of heights so this was definitely a bad idea.

As we were going up, I started breathing really heavily and getting super scared. Michael grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers, "Aves it's gonna be okay." He said before leaning in and kissing my temple.

Was he always this friendly? Did he like me? More importantly, did I like him? Fml. I hate making decisions.
