Chapter 10- I am...Sasha Fierce

Music blared through my speakers as I danced around my room.

"'Cause the players gonna play play play play play and the haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate, baby. I'm just gonna shake shake shake shake shake. I shake it off, I shake it off," I warbled.

I leafed through the dresses in my closet and stopped short when I came across a light blue sundress. Usually, I was anti-dress, but I didn't know what changed my mind. Actually, I did, but I didn't want to admit that I wanted to look good for my meeting with Alex.

I had never dressed myself to impress people, so I didn't know what changed as I tried my hardest to look as beautiful as possible.

I plugged in my curling iron and began on my makeup. I applied a neutral champagne color to my lids and added a thin line of black eyeliner. Then, I applied a light mauve blush to my cheeks and painted my lips with light pink lipstick.

By then, the curling iron was hot so I lightly curled my hair, giving it beachy waves. After I was done with my hair, I turned off the iron and unplugged it.

Then, I pulled on a silver heart necklace, silver hoops, and my charm bracelet, which was given to me for my 16th birthday by my older brother, Zach.

Lastly, I slipped on some beige wedges and packed my bag with all of my necessities, including my phone, chapstick, car keys, house keys, and, of course, a notebook to take notes in. Before I put my phone in, I checked the time, which read 3:05.

"Shit, I'm late," I cursed as I rushed out of my room and down the stairs.

"Bye Mom! I'm going to the park to meet my partner for my Biology project!" I yelled as I opened the door.

"Lock the door on your way out," was my reply.

"What, no goodbye?" I mumbled to myself as I closed and locked the door.

I made my way down the driveway to my car. I dropped my phone and house keys into my bag and in return, took out my car keys. I pressed the button, earning two chirps as the door unlocked. I pulled it open and took my spot in the driver's seat. Then I stuck my key into the ignition and turned it, causing the engine to roar to life.

I pulled out of the driveway and sped towards the park. It took about five minutes for me to reach there and I immediately parked and jumped out of my car. I locked the doors as I made my way towards the duck pond, where Alex had texted me to meet him. The gravel crunched under my feet with every step and suddenly, I felt a weird tingly sensation in my stomach and my palms started getting sweaty.

Why was I getting nervous about seeing Alex?

I wiped my hands on my dress and shook my head, in an effort to clear my mind of any ridiculous thoughts.

When I spotted Alex, my heart started racing. He was sitting on a bench across from the pond, clad in his usual leather jacket and dark jeans combo. As I neared the bench, I noticed that Alex was on the phone, and he didn't seem very happy with the person on the other end.

"What do you mean he's asking for more? I told him I would get him the money as soon as possible," he shouted into the receiver.

I cringed for the person on the other end. Whoever they were, they were really getting it.

I stood there awkwardly as I waited for him to finish his call.

"Okay," he groaned, "I'll see what I can do about it. Bye."
