Chapter 15- ANTM and Chill?

"STOP IT! I have never in my life yelled at a girl like this! When my mother yells like this it's because she loves me! I was rooting for you! We were all rooting for you!" Tyra's voice flooded from my speakers.

My obsession with America's Next Top Model was getting out of hand. I reached into my bowl to grab a handful of popcorn but was disappointed when all I felt was air.

I groaned. It was 3:04 and Alex had yet to arrive. I mean, I know it was only four minutes after our set time, but I was still getting anxious. I had gotten ready about half an hour ago, pulling on a cute periwinkle sweater and some jeans. It was November now, and luckily the Texas weather was finally cooling down.

Winter break was in three weeks, and I couldn't wait. I needed a break from school. And I secretly hoped that two weeks away from Houston would help clear my head from all Alex-related thoughts.

I got up to make some more popcorn when the doorbell rang. I left the bowl on the counter, smoothed out my sweater, and opened the door. On the other side was none other than Alex, looking as gorgeous as ever.

What was wrong with me?

"Hey," I stuttered, stepping to the side so he could enter. I had spent the entire morning tidying the house, since my parents were out. I didn't know why I tried so hard to impress Alex. If he liked me I wanted him to like me as me.

As if he would like me, I thought to myself.

"Hey," he replied, stepping in, his eyes traveling over our gray couch and flat screen TV.

Since my dad was such a big-shot business man, we lived on the nicer side of town. I'd be the first to admit that I was spoiled. If he only he realized that buying me things wouldn't erase the fact the he and Mom never spent time with me.

"Let's go upstairs to my room," I said, leading the way up the stairs. I heard Alex's footsteps behind me as I turned right and into my room.

It was a good-sized room, with white walls and pretty much white everything else. I loved white because it brightened my room and looked super crisped. The hard part was keeping everything clean.

"Make yourself at home," I told Alex, smiling and plopping on my bed.

Alex sat next to me, our knees brushing up against each other. This caused my heart rate to speed up and my breath to hitch.

"So I finished my three slides and I brought put them on this USB drive," he said, pulling out a mini lego man drive. Alex pulled his head off, revealing the USB.

I raised my eyebrows in question.

"It's Mason's," he explained.

"Ahhh," I replied.

I grabbed my laptop off my bedside table and plugged in his USB. I looked over his slides and was pleasantly surprised at the quality.

"Nice. Now all I have to do is combine my slides with yours and add any finishing touches."

I did what I said and then Alex and I looked over the powerpoint.

"Looks good! Are we done? Can I go home?" he said anxiously.
