VERNON POV 🐢

The charity event had been a resounding success.

Carats and Once's thrilled with each performance, singing along and filling the air with positive energy.

I had a lot of fun with the other members, but my thoughts always came back to Dahyun.

At the end of the night, when we said goodbye to the fans, she seemed distant.

She barely looked me in the eye and avoided any physical contact.

On the way to our apartment, the silence was deafening.

I tried to start a conversation a few times, but she just responded in monosyllables.

Arriving home, she threw her bag on the sofa and went straight to the kitchen, ignoring my presence.

I got a glass of water and sat down next to her, watching her in silence.

She chewed her food without moving her eyes, lost in her own thoughts.

"Love... what did you think of the event?", I asked shyly, breaking the ice.

She lifted her head for a second, her brown eyes staring at me with an unreadable expression. "Cool," she replied, her voice low and monotonous. "But I'm sleepy. I'm going to my room."

I got up and followed her to the bedroom door.

She walked in and closed the door in my face, without giving me the chance to say anything else.

I felt frustrated and confused.

What was going on with Dahyun? Was she jealous of that specific fan who gave me a hug?

Or was there something deeper going on between us?

I walked to my room, feeling alone and discouraged.

The night that should have been unforgettable had turned into a nightmare.

I lay on the bed, closing my eyes and trying to understand what was going through her head.

I need to talk to her. I need to know what's going on.

I cannot allow this silence and this distancing to destroy what we have.

Tomorrow, I'll talk to her.

I will open my heart and try to understand what is going on in her mind.

But for now, I can only drown in my thoughts and wait for the morning to bring answers.

-----------
Dahyun came back from the shower and lay down with her back to me, immediately focusing on a manhwa.

I watched her in silence for a few moments, my heart clenching at the feeling of distance emanating from her.

I sighed deeply, gathering the courage to address the subject that had been consuming me since the charity event. "Dahyun..." I began, my voice wavering, "the fan... is just a fan. You know I love you, right?"

She remained silent, flipping through the pages of the manhwa with disinterest. "I know," she murmured, without looking up from the book.

Frustrated with the lack of response, I insisted: "On our vacation in New York, you told me that you didn't want our relationship to be temporary. Remember?"

She finally put down the manhwa and looked at me, her brown eyes filled with an emotion that I couldn't identify. "Um," she said, her voice low. "But I'm not upset. Just thinking."

“Thinking about what?” I asked anxiously, wanting to understand once and for all what was going on in her mind.

She hesitated for a moment, as if she was searching for the right words. "How there are so many people who keep hitting on a committed man," she finally said, her voice thick with frustration. "It's unacceptable!"
