The town's road gradually became bumpier the farther off the beaten track they got, and along with the amount of gravel littering the broken asphalt came a few other gradual changes.

Lilith met Sakusa's pitch-black eyes. She flickered her own to her twin, and he shrugged in confusion as well. Due to living a very quiet life, Sakusa was very good at picking up non-verbal queues. However, there was no need for his Sherlock level analysis because the Miya's were behaving so uncharacteristically that it'd be impossible to miss.

When Atsumu literally combed down his hair, Lilith couldn't take it anymore. "Alright, what in the fuck is go'n on?!"

"What do ya mean, princess?" Osamu asked as he pulled down his visor so that he could check his hat hair now that he had chucked his cap off and threw it at his twin's head.

"I mean-" she slapped back up the visor so that Osamu would look over at her grumpily, "you both are primping!! And I want to know why."

The chattier of the two grumbled, "We ain't primping."

"Then what would you call it?"

Sakusa had been feeling off the nervous energy the twins had been throwing off since they turned down this deserted-looking road, so he anxiously pulled on his facemask. With his security blanket in its rightful place, "You both are acting...odd."

Osamu scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, and Lilith spotted the tiniest hint of pinkness spreading across his cheeks. "It ain't nothin' major. We just haven't been home in some time, and-"

"And we're bring'n our partners with us this time." The twins truly looked identical at that moment as they both gave their lovers sheepish apologetic looks. "We just want to make a good impression as yer guys's spouses."

Osamu nodded in complete agreement.

Lilith's lips parted in surprise. Despite her own gruffness, she cared more about the man blush'n in the seat next to her just as much as he did her thus with veins protruding from her neck, she growled sweetly, "Pretty boy...do you have something to tell me? Because I was under the impression we were gonna get cleaned up then go see your parents."

Sakusa nodded passionately in the backseat, throwing his boyfriend desperate eyes.

When neither Miya said anything, but Osamu dared to whistle some backwater tune awkwardly, Lilith exploded, "I'M IN FUCK'N BOOTY SHORTS!!!!!!! I am not formally introducing myself to your parents looking like a skank!"

"Skank? I ain't heard that term in a decade," Atsumu snickered as Osamu tried to wrangle in his banshee in the front seat.

He assumed all was smooth sailing with his partner until he tried to place his calloused hand atop Sakusa's only to find the introvert had already avoided his touch. Woundedly, "Omi-Omi?"

Sakusa had a few curls hanging in front of his eyes from shaking his head in response.

"Kiyoomi? What's wrong?"

When his quiet love didn't reply once again, Atsumu tried to crawl into his lap to catch whatever expression Sakusa was making, but so softly he almost missed it, Kiyoomi mumbled, "-can't do this right now."

"H-huh?!"

"Sorry. Can't."

"'SAMU! STOP!"

"What ya yell'n at me for, yo-" the back door suddenly opened, so Osamu let off a thundering curse as he slammed on his brakes.

"Sakusa's got the right idea!"

"EXCUSE YOU?!" Osamu was busy downshifting his truck, so he didn't have a free hand to grab ahold of his girl as she followed suit.
