CHAPTER TWO: The Birthday party

MORNING, BELLA'S ROOM
I woke up in the morning and Joyce was not beside me. I shrugged it off thinking she went out to get water or something.
I went to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth.
I went back to the room, but the lights were off. I walked to the switch to turn on the light, but the light was switched on before I could reach it.
"Happy birthday" everybody shouted. I smiled and then I realized that Dad was there.
He was holding a birthday cake with 18 candles on top and they started singing to me.
"Blow your candles, sweetheart" Dad said after the song.
I blew out the candles after making a wish and I immediately hugged my dad.
"I've missed you" I murmured as I held onto him tight.
"I've missed you too baby, Happy birthday"
"Are you gonna cut the cake or are you gonna pretend not to see us all?" Benson said
"My bad" I replied "Thank you all, I love you" I said as I hugged all of them.
They gave me gifts and wished me a happy birthday.
"Alright," Mom said "Joyce, Bianca, and Benson, come with me to supervise the decorations and food"
"Yes Mom" they replied as they went all went downstairs, leaving Dad and I in the room.
"Baby" Dad said "Yes Daddy" I replied. I'm sorry but I won't be able to attend your party" he said and my throat went dry.
"Why?" I asked. "I have a very important meeting to attend tomorrow morning in New York. Which is why I came back home to see you before I left" he said
"But Dad," I whined, " It's my 18th birthday, you have to attend."
"I know baby, I'm so sorry. I'll make it up to you, I promise"
"Fine, it's for work anyway."
"Thank you for understanding sweetheart. I love you and happy birthday. Let your mom know if you need anything, okay?"
"Yes sir" I replied.
He said goodbye and left.
Just then, Joyce came in and we decided to go out to buy breakfast for everyone since the kitchen was busy.
We came back and we all ate together. After eating, Joyce and I decided to take a nap sincewe have a busy night ahead.

EVENING
We woke up by 3 pm since the makeup artist and the hairdresser were supposed to come by 3:30 pm.
I showered and as soon as I came out of the bathroom, Mum came in with the hairdresser. We went into my dressing room and she started making my hair. I wanted a slick ponytail with a few strands of my hair left out in the front. I have long curly hair so it was really cute.
She finished making my hair at around 4:45 pm and I decided to eat before we continued.
After eating, the makeup artist started her job and made me look flawless. Joyce dressed me up. The makeup artist did everyone else's makeup before leaving.

By the time we were done, it was already 7:15 and people started arriving. I had invited my friends from school and a few other people I relate with. I wanted an intimate party so it was just family and friends.

It was time for me to walk down the stairs to make an appearance and the MC introduced me.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the birthday girl."
Everyone faced the stairs as I walked down in my purple dress. The light shined on it as it sparkled. I saw tears in the corner of Mom's eyes and I smiled at her. "She is so dramatic," I thought.
She came to me and walked me down the stairs and it was time to cut the cake. It was a huge white and purple cake that stood at the center of the hall majestically. I cut the cake as they sang for me. The party was going well. I walked up to my friends to greet them.
"Behold, the birthday girl is here" Princeton hailed and I smiled.
"Well hello there buddy. How are you?" I asked as I hugged him
"Never could've been better" he replied.
"Thanks for coming guys," I said as I hugged Emily, Zade, and Chloe
"We wouldn't miss it for the world. You're finally legal" Emily said
"Yeah, finally,🙄" Zade said "Shut up Zee" I replied.
"Hahaha, Zee" Chloe laughed and Zade glared at her.
"By the way, you look stunning Bella" Chloe said and they all nodded in agreement.
"Thank you" I replied as I blew them a kiss
"Joyce" I called as Joyce approached us with Benson. "Where were you?" I asked as I held her hand.
"Mom wanted to ask me something. I'm here now." She replied and I smiled at her
"Sup guys" she greeted our friends as they hugged
Just then, Mom walked up to me.
"Hi kids" she greeted my friends. "It's time to take pictures, let's go kids" She said to us.
I took pictures with everyone and we danced, ate and drank all night.
The party ended at around 11:30 pm and by midnight, everyone left.
I was too tired to unbox the gifts I got so I just freshened up and called it a night.

THE NEXT MORNING
After unboxing the gifts with Mom, Bianca, and Joyce, Joyce's mom called to say that she was back. I decided to follow Joyce back home.
When we got to the house, I greeted her mom and we gisted for a while. When it was 6 pm, I decided to go back home. As Joyce walked me out, she said she had something to tell me.
"Princeton asked me out on a date. We are going to watch the game together tomorrow. I'm sorry but you have to go alone."
"Awwwwn, that is so cute" I replied "No problem babes, I understand" I replied
"Thank you. I love you" she mouthed and I smiled.
"Love you too babe. See you" I replied as I entered the car.

When I got home, the first thing I did was head to my parents room to see dad.
I knocked on the door and I heard mom say "come in"
"Good evening mom, good evening dad" I greeted.
"Evening darling" my parents replied. "Your dad has a surprise for you" mom said
I looked at dad and he smiled as he gestured for me to sit beside him.
I did and Dad gave me a purple gift bag. I opened it and I saw a gold watch and a car key.
"Oh my, thank you so much daddy. I love you"
"Anything for you princess" he replied. "It's a Porsche . You've always wanted one"
I almost cried as I hugged him.
"The gold watch is from your mother. I have another surprise" Dad said and I thanked mum and hugged her too.
She got a call so she moved to the other side of the bed to pick her call.
"What is it, Dad?" I asked
"Well the person I was met yesterday was an investor and my old friend from high school. We had dinner and he introduced his son to me. He's Jude Bellignham's father" Dad said and I gasped.
"I told him that my daughters are huge fans of his son. Long story short, you, your sister and I are going to see the game together and you will get to speak to Jude personally. His dad said that he'll introduce you to him," Dad finished.
I was speechless.
"I love you" was all I could say as I hugged him
"I hope I've redeemed myself"
'More than enough" I replied and he laughed.
"Yes young lady" I heard mom say "Can I have my husband back now?" she asked and I chucked and released dad.
"Thank you" she mouthed as she hugged him.
"Eww" I said and they chuckled.
"Goodnight people" I said to them as I left.
"Goodnight baby" they replied and I closed the door.

I decided to check up on my siblings before going to my room. I knocked on Benson's door and there was no reply. I opened the room and he was not in. I concluded that he was not at home and would come back late.
I knocked on Bianca's door and she opened the door.
"Let's have a sleepover" I said to her.
"Why are you so happy?" she asked and I smiled.
"Let's go first." I said as I dragged her hand.
We entered my room which was next to hers and I got us snacks as she turned on the TV.
We sat on the bed and I told her what happened.
"That's so cute. I wish I could follow you guys but I have a date I can't cancel tomorrow" she said.
"Wow! It seems I'm the only one without a date tomorrow" I said
"Yeah you are" she said "But at least you get to see Bellignham"
"I know right" I giggled "That's the best part"
"Why can't you cancel your date tho. It's Jude we are talking about here" I gushed.
"I was dared to go out with Dexter tomorrow. That's why I can't cancel." She replied.
"Too bad" I replied. "I'll just get you an authorgraph"
'Thanks B. You're the best" she replied "And by the way, you have to drive me to school with your Porsche one of these days"
"I know" I bragged and we went silent as we watched the movie.
After about an hour, I turned to see her sleeping soundly. I covered her up properly and went to brush my teeth in the bathroom. I opened a drawer to take a new toothbrush when I saw a picture of Liam and I. It was the picture we took during our first date as a couple. I tore the picture and threw it in the bin. I was sad that we weren't together but he made his choice and it was Amanda.
I went back to the room and slept off thinking about tomorrow.
