Lisa POV
"Why did you have to be so rude to her?" I exclaimed at Jenna, who was sitting and sipping her hot coffee.
"What? I wasn't rude. I just told her to let you decide, and the moment you saw me, you jumped into my arms. It's not my fault," she said, raising her hands in mock surrender.
I groaned. "Ugh, why did I hug you? Now what must she be thinking?"
"Chill, one thing I know is that she was jealous."
Jealous. She was jealous. That's a good sign. I stood up, fixing my hair and adjusting my chair. "Well, thank you for last night. I should go now; I have assignments to complete." Jenna stood up too, leaving her mug on the table and walking with me to the door.
"Hey, don't forget about me when you couple up with her," she said jokingly. I let out a soft chuckle.
"Never. You're the matchmaker. Why would I ignore you after all your hard work?" I said, hugging her. As I pulled away, she extended her hand to open the door. I stepped forward to walk out. "Bye, Jen... Rachel." Rachel? What is she doing at Jenna's doorstep?
"Lisa," she whispered, her face shocked.
"Jenna?" I said, turning my face to her, showing no emotion, with only one question in my mind: why is Rachel here?
"Lisa," she replied, eyeing me as if she didn't know why Rachel was standing at her doorstep.
"Well, isn't this a surprise friendly meeting. Morning, Rachel," Jenna said.
Of course, it's a surprise friendly meeting. "Rachel, what are you doing here?" I asked.
"I—I live across the street. I heard we have a new neighbor."
New neighbor. I turned to Jenna. "You moved here?" I asked her. She nodded her head. Great. She lives right across from Rachel's home.
"Well, I just wanted to give her some cookies as a welcome gift," Rachel said, handing Jenna a bowl of cookies.
"Oh, that's so sweet of you. Thank you, Rachel," Jenna said, taking the bowl from her. I just stood there, watching them converse. Nothing was settling with me, and the fact that Jenna lives right across from Rachel was shocking enough. I glanced behind Rachel and saw the same car in her driveway that I noticed the night I witnessed her kissing the man. Oh, so he's here. In her house. Great.
"Come in, please," Jenna said, being polite. But I could see she was clearly having fun because of the smirk on her face.
"No, no, I don't want to cause any disturbance to both of you. I should go." Disturbance? Fuck that. She wants to go back to him, why won't she, She likes him not me.
"Oh, no, we were just talking," Jenna said, holding the door open for her to enter.
"Maybe next time. Alex is waiting for me," she said, glancing at me for a second. Alex is his name. Alex is waiting. Alex. Alex. Alex. I have never been so jealous of the name Alex until now.
"Alex?" Jenna questioned, pretending not to know him. Her boyfriend. I didn't want to hear it from her mouth: my boyfriend. My boyfriend. My boyfriend is waiting. Who I like and will probably also love. Not you Lisa.
"Jenna, why do you have to be so nosy?" I said, hitting her on the shoulder. "I'm sorry for her behavior," I said to Rachel with an apologetic look.
"No need, it's okay. Well, I'll see you both later. Bye," she said and walked away. I closed the door and glared at Jenna.
"You live in Rachel's neighborhood?" I asked, following Jenna back into her living room.
"I didn't know, not until now," she replied, looking slightly amused.
