It was supposed to be an easy drive to Ashlyn's house but Gina convinced Ashlyn to leave her car at Nini's house and walk the remaining blocks with Maddox. Gina pleaded, wanting to borrow Ashlyn's car for her date with Nini.
"Well, this was quite a turn," Ashlyn commented as soon as she left Nini's house with Maddox. "You agreed too fast. You should have let her beg," Maddox remarked, rolling her eyes but with fondness.
"But she had this whole plan with Nini," Ashlyn argued and added, "And it's not like I dislike walking with you." "Oh. Is that so... M-me too. I don't dislike being with you longer," Maddox admitted, flustered. Ashlyn responded with a smile before intertwining her hands with Maddox.
When Ashlyn and Maddox began to walk to Ashlyn's house, their hands remained connected with each other while having small but productive conversations with each other.
"Okay, so let me get this straight. You dream of me before you met me when I transferred here," Maddox pointed out. Ashlyn arched an eyebrow and joked," I didn't think any part of you is straight." "Moony," Maddox warned but there was affection to it.
Ashlyn looked at her before releasing a defeated sigh. "Fine. Yes, Gadget I was having a dream about you even before I met you this year," Ashlyn disclosed as she glanced away. Maddox nodded her head with satisfaction and said, "Hmmm. Sounds like soulmates to me."
"You believe in soulmates?" Ashlyn asked, intrigued. "I believe that I was meant to be with you. Is that enough?" Maddox answered, facing Ashlyn who paused on the sidewalk.
That caught Ashlyn off guard. After blinking a few times, Ashlyn cleared her throat and uttered, "Uhm... emphasized?" Maddox chuckles but gladly explains, taking both of Ashlyn's hands with hers and facing her completely.
"It's just that... since the first time I saw you, I felt like I was meant to meet you. That I was meant to be someone close to you," Maddox simply says.
"And does it make any sense if I say that I believe that the universe will find a way for the two of us to meet? Whether there is one or more universes," Maddox added, carelessing Ashlyn's cheeks.
"It does but at the same time it doesn't," Ashlyn replied with a laugh that Maddox mirrored. "That's fine. I just think that there wouldn't be a universe where I won't be in love with you," Maddox admitted, the word love slipping again in the most normal and genuine way and it felt right.
Ashlyn glanced at her, eyes widening as she asked, "You love me?" "I thought I already established that I've been into you since we were kids, Moony. I even said it earlier," Maddox emphasized, fascinated.
"But you haven't actually said it properly. I didn't want to assume anything in case you were just caught in a moment," Ashlyn pointed out, defensively. "Well, I mean it. And you didn't say anything either," Maddox snarked back. "Touche," Ashlyn remarked, rolling her eyes.
After a moment of silence, Maddox held onto Ashlyn's hand and said, "But I do love you." Ashlyn looked at their intertwined hands before turning to Maddox, who already had her eyes fixated on her.
