Floor 75: Collinia Boss Room
(We pick up the battle of the Floor 75 Boss, the Skull Reaper, already in progress. Though the tide has turned in favor of the Assault team, the Reaper's slashes are still taking out several players with one hit.
Heathcliff blocks a thrust with his shield and swats the scythe away with his sword. Y/n and Asuna keep Switching in and out to strike. Kirito and Klein get in some good swipes, too. The final HP bar is down to just a sliver; the creature is almost defeated)
Heathcliff: Everyone, ATTACK!
(Everyone rushes in and swipes at the downed Reaper like there's no tomorrow. Swords, axes, maces and lances find bone as the monster writhes in agony. Finally, with the last of its HP gone, the Skull Reaper rears up once again and roars, this time in agony. It glows... and disintegrates.
The large "Congratulations!!" sign appears above the crowd. They are now three-fourths of the way to clearing the game. There is no cheering, no celebrating this victory. Everyone is completely exhausted. Only a few including Heathcliff remain standing. Y/n and Asuna sit back-to-back, Kirito not that far away)
Klein: How many did we lose?
(Kirito checks his Map and starts counting)
Kirito: Fourteen of us died.
Agil: Oh, my God...
(He's not the only one feeling that way; upon hearing the death toll, most of the Assault Team gasps)
Klein: And we still got twenty-five Floors to go.
Agil: Twenty-five more Floors?! How the hell are we even gonna make it that far?!
(A few of the players express hushed fears over just that. Y/n, however, is looking over at Heathcliff. The Commander's face is looking away at the side... and that's when Y/n remembers their Duel and how fast that shield swipe was. He looks with purpose at Heathcliff, whose health bar as usual is still in the green. He grabs his sword. Asuna feels Y/n shift against her back)
Asuna: What's wrong?
(Without warning, Y/n sprints towards Heathcliff and attacks with a Sword Skill. Heathcliff turns almost too late as Y/n strikes just above his shield before it can be raised. But the sword doesn't go through Heathcliff's head or throat; it's blocked by some sort of invisible shield. And a purple hexagon appears above Heathcliff: "Immortal Object". Y/n narrows his eyes at this revelation. Asuna runs towards them)
Asuna: Altair! What are you...?
(She sees the hexagon and remembers when it showed above Yui. Everyone looks now and stares until the hexagon goes away)
Asuna: An "Immortal Object"?! Commander Heathcliff, wh-what's going on?!
Y/n: I think I got the answer to that. The reason why the Commander's HP never hits yellow... is 'cause he's protected by the System.
(There are gasps all around)
Y/n: Y'know, ever since day one, something's always bugged me about this whole thing. I was always wondering: where is he hiding while he watches us and controls everything in this world?
